...not worth that? Gana isnt due to age.

I reckon we'd be well up if we wanted to move those players on.

Name 2 or 3 permanent signings that hes made who are atrocious?

Maupay we all know he didnt sign
Beto yes but there are caveats

So who?

£25mil in a years time? Erm no mate. Its a 4 year deal where we simply deferred payment with zero year one and no doubt the weight on the backend.

"Not one striker in the world we could have had last season at his level or better that didn’t have a crazy price tag attached? "

How many teams would give us their starting centre forward and 1 in 3 goalscorer -- in a top league for a relegation threatened team -- for zero downpayment ?
The bottom line is we bought Beto because we were desparate and he was free from any up front money .. No point moaning anymore about him “not being any good” just need to try and move him on and go again. Hopefully we are now away from this kind of nonsense … big game today we to win …COYB 💙

We paid money for players over market value e.g. Iceland for £46m. A lot of those player were bought with the objective that we would sell on (if not retaining) at a profit. A lot of our players spent full period of contract here and walked for nothing meaning we have had to rely purely on commercial income and very little transfer income. This has restricted us. Thelwell has therefore had far less to spend than his predecessors.
Gylfi Sigurdsson signed for us in 2017.
Wont even look at how many players we have signed since then.

Thats like saying buying Daniel Amokachi in 94 led to us having to sell Rooney

Some utter tripe in and among some ballers in there.

The bottom line is Beto still needs to be paid for.
Irelevant of wether we delayed a payment or not, we also bout Chermiti in the same window, did we need 2?
Could whatever down payment on the 2 be clubbed together to get a better player?

Could the loan money we used on Danjuma been used?

I dont believe how many people fall for the 'beto was all we could afford at the time' drivel.

We probably have to pay more than market value for him due too getting him on Klarma.

Nice one Kev

No it’s not. It’s saying that Thelwell came in where we are absolutely hamstrung financially because of the previous poor transfer activity under Walsh, Brands, Kenwright, Moshiri. Everyone here accepts that the club has been ran like a circus. He has therefore had to operate with a financial hangover. Whether he’s done that to an acceptable level is down to opinion, but I can see why quite a few would criticise him.

Some good, some bad.

You could do this for every team though and say some good, some bad.

People just always seem to forget about other teams bad signings.

Begs the question
Why spend 25 mil on a player whose obvious (only ) strength is running on to balls in the channels then ask him to be a target man and play with your back to goal.

His stats were very good at Udinese and I thought he would do well for us if we played to his strengths rather than think he's another Calvert Lewin.

It's pretty bad recruitment tbh. The lad has never had a run in the team of any note yet Dom can go 15/16 games and never looks like scoring or assisting .
No one will convince me if you give Beto that sort of run he wouldn't have at the very least a few goals & assists.
i think the crux of the issue here is half interested DCL who cant score and misses to many chances is still better than beto. Simple fact. Move on !

Highlights are Digne, Richarlison, Branthwaite and Rodriguez. Not sure I can summon any enthusiasm for many others on that list.
