hmmm

None of the playing staff have thanked Dyche or said goodbye, and that includes some of his previous Burnley players.

Am I reading too much into that?

Nope, only one who did was Keane.

Said to a few on here in private, but Dyche was very much not liked by a large part of the squad including a few names that would surprise you.

…..my fear is it would’ve happened by now. My hope is Moyes has insisted Thelwell is replaced as part of his deal. I understand TFG employ people to identify their new manager, so I’m not as certain as others that Thelwell recruited Moyes.

I dare say we’ll soon find out 🤞
It's pretty clear from the press release that TFG recruited Moyes. However I don't think they would let Moyes choose the DOF as that's basically picking your boss TFG will decide whether or not they keep Thelwell.

I'm on the fence with Thelwell like I was with brands. We know who the puppet masters were under the old regime I use the word regime as it clearly was. Recruiting is a nightmare as it is that's mostly down to the agents looking after themselves for the best deal.

The other option is do we drop the whole DOF role and go back to a manager and not a coach.

….we won’t drop the DOF model, it’s an integral part of the system these days and I’m not sure many Coaches would want that role added to the scope of their job.

….my point was I’m hoping Moyes said he wouldn’t want to work with Thelwell. Thats not the same as picking his successor, although they might have asked for his views.

All conjecture of course.

Pretty certain this wouldn’t have happened. Would be an incredibly arrogant and rude thing to say to new club owners at a job interview. He has no reason to not want to work with him.

That's just as absurd an argument, and you won't find me making it. He's signed some very good players, I would accept his record is probably more good than bad, but he's also signed some complete duffers. Anyone claiming otherwise is being disingenuous.
yes, it was toungue in cheek mate.

Overall, I think his transfer record was very good, but you can't be at a club for 11 years and not make any duff signings.

….when you’re being head hunted at that level, you make demands. Being ‘rude’ won’t come into it. If you have concerns about how the club is being run you address them.

As you suggest, Moyes might be happy to work with Thelwell, i’m ‘hoping’ he’s not.

Congratulations to our new owners on solving the manager issue so quickly and efficiently.

Not what they would have hoped to be doing a month into taking over.

I’m sure 99% of Evertonians would not have chosen Moyes, but due to the position we are in and the morale of the players after the Burnley Mike Bassett had cowardly admitted he wasn’t up to the job, I’m sure our options weren’t as plentiful as some may think.

onward and upwards for a better second half of the season and the end of amateur league football tactics.

Can't wait for Wednesday night match. And now transfers, we have proper owners who want more than mediocrity.
Was worried that they would sit on Dyche, who looked beaten and taking us down.

It’s well known that Moyes wants to handle recruitment personally and feels that if a DOF handles it instead, then the DOF should be held accountable.

I don't think you are. There may be a few who'll do it in private or when the dust settles, but I suspect most of us weren't getting the aura of a happy camp.

I can't imagine many of them were enjoying the football and the pressure/focus said style brought to them.
