2024/25 David Moyes

There not really many metrics to measure them on than points per game average, albeit even that’s heavily skewed due to limited number of games but even so, Moyes averaged 1.54 points per game for Everton. Among the long list of his successors, only Roberto Martínez (1.56 ppg) and Carlo Ancelotti (1.6 ppg) had a better record than Moyes.
So other than that, what makes you think Moyes was better than Ancellotti?
Personally, Ancelotti is a league above Moyes as a manager, and it wouldn’t matter what team or league you put them in charge of.
I'm not doubting he's a better manager obviously, but to suggest he was better for Everton based on some almost useless PPG data is just plain mental.

He finished, what, 12th? After spending £100m+? I've never understood the reverence most have for him myself.

Interestingly, Keane and Doucoure said the same thing.

I wonder why?
It was relative faint praise imo, Doucoure (not seen his platitudes yet) I can understand as he was out on his ear under Lampard and got an extension under Dyche, so he probobly brought him his tea and toast every morning.
Keane didn’t exactly get much of a sniff under him when Branthwaite was fit but I guess they go back a way.

Is it the worst? You could say he earned the right to in his time here.

I'm also not sure you can really make decisions on that basis.

Like you can't pick a manager of a team based on what you perceive their right is to manage us at a new stadium. If that's the case we may as well get Colin Harvey and Joe Royle to do it. But it doesn't work like that.

You pick the guy who you think is the best manager. There's a perfectly fair debate whether that is Moyes, but if he is deemed the best choice available, he will manage the team at whatever stadium we are playing at.

Who said that's what happened?

Welcome back David not the appointment I wanted not sure who I wanted but do feel more relaxed now he has been appointed probably the safest bet for the short term let’s see what this window can bring as that’s as important as a new manager was.
