Their supposed to take shots from distance. Thats one of the main things. Its percentage based strategy and one of the main things is to frustrate your opponents into taking shots with relatively low xg percentage.
Obviously some shots will go in from distance thats just lore of averages also id add to that that imo howard wasnt a very good keeper. Trust me the way moyes implemented it was good, very good in fact.
