I know business have to have contingencies but I’m not sure you blame TFG an awful lot when they took over Dec 19th, it must have been the second or third meeting with the manager to talk about supporting him with new players, when he decided to bottle it. Was it the fact the new players would bring increased expectation?

the latter sentences -
is dyche syndrome!

It's Moyes Syndrome mate.

Knives to the Gunfight, Lucky Get out of there Alive.

The mentality is to be lucky to compete instead of actually going against the grain

if I'm guilty of wanting the best for my football club, then so be it. He's not the best for us, which I'd argue is anything f but Dyche Syndrome!

Alright, here we go then.

I think we should have sacked Dyche weeks ago and appointed Conceicao (then unattached) or Corberon (cheap release clause) but we missed out.

Now, I'd have a look at Iraola or Knutsen.

We've got 19 games left and a transfer window to operate in. I refuse to believe this is purely a fire fighting role. It's not 8 games of the season left and we're in the bottom three. There's an opportunity here to do something longer term but we won't. Because we're Everton. The league's meme club.

Thankyou for sharing.

I get where you're coming from, and I agree there was a window where going for someone like Conceição or Corberán could have made sense if they wanted to manage us. But now that we're in a relegation battle—I think we need a manager who knows how to steady the ship immediately. Moyes might not be the most exciting name, but he has a proven track record of getting the best out of limited squads and organizing a team to fight for every point.

Iraola is an intriguing option, and while he's had some experience in the Premier League, he hasn't faced the same kind of pressure as a relegation fight with a squad like ours. As for Knutsen, his success has been impressive, but transitioning from managing in Norway to the Premier League mid-season, in a scrap like this, is a huge gamble.. This isn't just about long-term planning; it's about survival first, and Moyes has the experience for exactly that. Once we're safe, then we can talk about building for the future. For now, we need a manager who knows what it takes to dig in and deliver results in the short term.

Everton may feel like a meme club sometimes, but the right choice now could set us up to avoid being in this situation again. Moyes might not be the glamorous pick, but he might just be the practical one we need.

Are people claiming we were better off with Dyche?

Like him or loathe him he brings the best out of GOT.
I always find it hard to remember consensus for past managerial appointments, but this one feels pretty divisive.

Maybe even more than Benitez - as I think most of us were on the same side there in not liking the smell of that appointment from the off.

I think the poll bears that out, too - roughly even for, against and not arsed.
