That’s not correct at all. It was never anything like Dycheball, we used to actually have chances. We bottled plenty of times but it’s not the same thing at all. You are misremembering because you don’t want Moyes now and/or used to defend Dyche.

They are not remotely comparable. It’s an insult to Moyes to lump him into the same category as that bottom feeder.

I'm glad Dyche has gone and haven't defended him for his work this season, but would've preferred a more ambitious hire than Moyes. If he has us back where we were last time under him then none of us will be complaining. But his approach at big 4 sides back in the day was barely different to Dyche's. We didn't create chances except from set pieces here and there. But anyway, like you said in another post, it was only against the top 4 and compared to where we are right now that was a luxury problem to have.

Define "right", though? None of us know what options were available. It's January, in the middle of a relegation fight. It's not unfair to assume the list would not be long.

If we scraped survival, let Dyche go then employ Moyes, I'd be as up in arms as a lot of others seemingly are. If we categorically knew we had passed over more progressive names to go for Moyes, then yes, get the pitchforks out. That would be more like the backwards step a number of people are seeing this as.

But that's highly unlikely to be the reality. So, I can understand their thought process even if I don't especially like it.

arsenal finished 8th in 20/21
chelsea finished 12th two seasons ago
man utd are currently 13th

and we still can't beat arsenal, chelsea or man utd away now in their worst era in the prem

We were consistently finishing in the top 5 or 6 at the time. But yes you're right we haven't been any better since then so probably no point moaning about it

Oh I absolutely can. I still fume at us bringing Rooney back to this day.

That said, the rat thing. Football is full of rats, its ran by rats and played by rats. All of them would be off at a drop of a hat if offered more money or better opportunities. It's just the nature of modern football.

I neither want nor like Moyes but meh, it's not like fans opinions matter anyway really.

I'd hazard a guess that most are frustrated that the club always seems obsessed with the past and the fabled premier league experience despite new owners.

New fellas come in, new stadium, away from Dyche, a chance to move on and boom first appointment is david moyes of all people.

I can understand their decision but cannot blame people for being frustrated at this.

I think Moyes until the end of the season would be ok, hopefully not a multi year deal, but not sure if Moyes will go for that.

I started supporting Everton around 08-09 and Moyes was a big part of that. I know it's a foreign concept to pick the team you want to support, but that's what we have to do in America. We were an over performing club without a lot of money with a good coach. We're now the complete opposite. I think Moyes can get us through the rest of the season.
