2024/25 Vitalii Mykolenko

Drop..

I like him. Have given him time, hope and accepted life cannot be easy given he's Ukrainian.
The fact is Everton FC represents more than one person and most of all it's a great football club that's given him a big chance over a long period. Long-term, he needs a different manager to improve, and probably to drop down a league in terms of capabilities. He turned his back on that Bournemouth winner. That's unacceptable.

hes a cb playing as a fullback. least thats my explanation why he's always so close to Jarrad when teams break on us.

He's like that because he's told to play like that. If you listen to Dyche's explanation of the goal, he singles out Patterson for not winning the header, Tarkowski for letting the cross in, Branthwaite for ducking. No mention of the LB because he thought he played it properly.

I'm not even defending our LB, I've not seen a decent cross from him in forever and his defending is erratic at best.

Think the stick he’s getting at the moment is OTT. Yes he’s out of form and yes he has his limitations, but a decent manager would put a team together than turned round both of those things. Him and McNeil down the left were a good combo. Need to go back to that asap and work on the flaws everywhere else. I’d say that he’s not far off being the least of our problems.

On an individual level player wise he is the biggest problem for me. He's terrible at his job, odd for such a thing to happen at this level of competitive sport but here we are

Do you think he’s a terrible player or just playing terribly? This time last year, I thought he was playing as well as any left back in the Prem.

….i don’t think it was any coincidence he looked much better once Branthwaite came into the team. He does so much covering in the left back channel, I actually think it would’ve ideally suited somebody like Digne. Mykolenko just has very little quality in possession (surprising as lefties are usually so comfortable with a football) and he’ll often find himself in no-man’s land.

Definitely true with Branthwaite and I agree with everyone that Myko has generally been poor this season. But with the right manager, I just think he could be part of a decent team.

Having one full back who’s more defensive and one who’s more offensive is quite a classic shape in a back four isn’t it - Alex Ferguson always did it - and I’m more concerned with our right back options as it stands.

If we got rid of ALL our right backs and picked up someone like Walker Peters on a free in a summer, I could see him bombing on whilst Myko stayed back with the centre halves like a Van Den Hauwe, and McNeil provided the width. We’ve lacked so much balance in our team for so many years that it’s been very difficult for anyone to play to their potential consistently.

Maybe comfortable on their left foot, but they're usually absolutely awful using their right, to the point everyone knows he can only go one way (backwards)

The lack of creativity all over the pitch is exposing his weaknesses big time.

Club desperately needs a left back who can overlap effectively and then get in a decent cross. Robinson does this every single week for Fulham and we saw Kerkez do it for the goal and these are mid table FBs (although with their ages potential to get top moves in near future).

It's incredible frustrating with Ndiaye ahead of him as he can cut infield while dribbling so there's space there but Myko just dosen't have the quality to exploit it.
