For me the “assessment” is simple: would they offer this guy a new contract? If the answer is “God no” then half a season is far, far too long to keep him on as a lame duck, not with everything at stake in those 19 games.

Villa are very flakey this season. Esp away. I think its a great game to start post dyche feel good factor. The momentum might just carry us over the line rather than the quality. But just to have a different upbeat feeling as opposed to the current manager who just drags everyone down.

yeah I think if we had around 25 points and our underlying metrics were reasonably sound (as they were last season with xG and chance creation) then he'd stay until the summer.
But as it stands we are playing poorly and in a precarious position, it doesn't benefit us to keep him and might actively get us sent down.
