And with no transfer window to rely on.

They have to act this week. At Roma, the evidence suggests they very much think they know more about football than pundits. I'll be surprised if they put up with this. They would have seen the Forest and Bournemouth games as serious opportunities to get a win - but we didn't get a single point. They simply need an excuse to rid themselves of Dyche. They didn't have that on arrival. His three unexpected draws since would have bought a little more time - but he has blown it big-time in the last week. It really is simply about whether or not they have their homework done and somebody ready to step in within the next fortnight.
Hope you're right mate. But, I think that if they truly knew anything about football then they would have done what Newcastle did with Bruce. Anyone with a brain could see what was happening with Dyche. This idea that he automatically keeps us up is a mad one. We may well scrape over the line, but for me, if I had loads of money on the line, I would not feel secure at all in the thought that he would keep us afloat.

People talk about waiting for their first choice to be available, which is all well and good, but TFG put us in this situation by walking away in the summer. It's their perogative- they did the same at Roma to get a better deal - but they must have realised that it had the potential to put us where we are now.

I would love us to get a really exciting manager in the Summer, but if we could get, say Graham Potter now, it might not be ideal but I am sure he would do better than Dyche. He coaches players, makes us more attractive for January and future signings, allows the recruitment team to prepare for a huge Summer of change, by putting deals in place because we know who the manager is etc.

The situation is stupid and could have been avoided.

I'll be honest: Potter terrifies me. Could you imagine Doucoure and Tarkowski playing Potterball?

I don't think we can pivot from Dycheball to Potterball without at least a full summer of pre-season and an absolute slate of new players.

I think if we do get a replacement for Dyche this month, it's more likely to be somebody in the vein of Moyes, Mourinho, or Allegri - defensively sound managers who can find a balance between defence and attack - rather than a complete stylistic change a la Potter or Roberto Martinez.

That's not to say I expect any of Moyes, Mourinho, or Allegri, more that I think that's the type of manager we need to get us safe for five months given the absolute dross he will have to work with.

You’re right about TFG needing a reason to sack the manager that was clear-cut and the fans would accept. Then we get three lukewarm draws. Meh. Then Forest and B’mouth? We looked awful. And any argument Sean had about how great it was to draw with Chelsea was instantly wiped away when Ipswich looked they were holding the reins of a pony at a kid’s birthday party they were in that much control. Heck, Ipswich could’ve had four or more goals that day 😐

The first thing they did on day 1 should have been changing the manager.

It's a huge mistake and should have been obvious to them. They've been involved in a process to buy the club since basically the start of the season so they have no real excuse for not recognising the issues.

It doesn't fill me with confidence for the future.
Trying to penny-pinch I reckon - just like dragging the takeover out after the initial July bid.

Doucs wouldn't be playing....tarkowski isn't that bad when he has options in front of him, branthwaite is much better too

Much like Textor and 777, they knew what’s what but couldn’t get involved until the deal was rubber stamped. There isn’t a takeover anywhere in world football where the new owners immediately change managers 5 seconds after taking over

Look at City, Sven wasn’t fired till the end of the season by the Shinawatra family while the Mansoor’s didn’t sack Mark Hughes till half way through their second season

They weren’t in a relegation battle with a new stadium that needs paying for, it took Newcastle a couple of weeks if that I think
