The Now-Irrelevant 2024/25 Relegation Battle (Without Everton!)

Lose to the #2 team in the table and everyone looses their minds again lol

Mental fragility. We were always going to lose at least one of 4 straight matches against the top 5.
Dont accept that as a game always going to loose, was a massive chance to go out today get a result again been let down by having a manager who cant create attacking plays.

Proper heads falling off tonight :pint2:

Lose at Bournemouth and team will be on course for 34 points.

That might still be good enough to stay up but it is not a comfortable season at all and more than likely another last day job.

At what point did you start worrying in 22/23 out of interest? This today was a bit like losing 2-0 at home to Leicester just before the World cup break. Funnily enough the next match was Bournemouth away, lost it 3-0 with mutiny in the away end and Lampard should've been sacked there and then instead of being given another five games after the break.

Can't fall into the same trap of giving Dyche the same amount imo as he lost the next four at the start of the season.

He showed potential at the start of the season. Not saying he should be starting every game but just fresh legs, same with Garner who will hopefully be in contention next weekend.

Add in 2-3 new faces which is the minimum expectation I'd say for next month.
Potential definitely and I think we're in rough agreement.

3 new faces is definitely a minimum - there are players in the team who need to be made absolutely droppable with no guarantee of even a bench spot.

That’s not why people are ‘losing their minds’. We had the easiest first half of the season in the entire league by a mile. We have completely messed it up and now we are 3 points clear of the relegation zone. Our home games 2nd half of the season include all of the top six, and there is much less chance of us being able to get out of trouble. Saying ‘we don’t do relegation’ solves absolutely nothing. It only takes one season, and once we are gone we will become a yoyo team, make no mistake. The gap between the premier league and the championship is now massive.

Leaving 2024 with 8 wins. And 3 of them were in one week.

Just one away win all year aswell. Some decent draws of course but you're not doing much in a season but struggle if only winning once away in over 12 months.

That's where I don't quite get the complacency. Wouldn't be a huge issue if the team already had 4-5 wins at Goodison but haven't really come close to that and it's going to be a much harder second half of the season run at home.

If you're not winning away you need to be winning every other game at home.

I don't get that. Surely every teams first half of a season is the same or very similar

Here’s me thinking everyone is more worried about the mere fact we are going into January with 3 league wins.
