If the only offer for DCL is a psr swap type deal like we got for Dobbin in the summer the club should take it. If DCL isn't going to sign a contract rather let him off to the barcodes in the next month and get longstaff in than lose him in the summer with nothing in return. It would help alot with PSR too if say they give us 15m for DCL and we give them 15m for Longstaff. If Garner and Tim are a few weeks away from starting, longstaff will be a handy addition, plus helps with squad numbers in the summer

I think he might be looking for a move to a London club or a European club so that renders the debate irrevant. He holds all the cards now.

Longstaff isn’t a bad player - wouldn’t be averse to him in the summer. We will need a big rebuild with not a lot of money, and will likely be in no position to attract top level players.
Not sure what people are expecting tbh.

(Had to listen to loads of people in the summer bleat on that McTominay wasn’t good enough for us)
Can you imagine the screams on here if we had gone for Nuno espirito santo :) McTominay would have been a boss signing for us simply because he knows where the net is. Anything else would have been a bonus. I do think us Evertonians need to take off the rose tinted glasses and realise that…
a) not only do we think we are crap, everybody else on the planets thinks were crap too.
B) having a passionate vocal crowd can be attractive to a potential signings, but it can also appear as a massive negative to new signings, if they see a potential lynch mob if it all goes wrong for them.
C) we all want the new owners to be better than the previous and run us in a more businesslike manner. Yet we expect them to offload 50-60% of the playing staff and all the backroom staff when psr will allow us to spend about six bob to replace them all?

Not advocating it.but can see why they would be considering it as a option for next season if the price is right.
He has played 16 times this season for a better side then us. If gana and mangala were both gone we need players in. We won't be signing all marquee players
He’s surrounded by some class midfielders, take him out of there side and you notice no difference

Because maybe they’re a slight upgrade on what we have. Mctominay yes, longstaff im not so sure, but it’s just so predictable buying fringe players from better teams than us right now who’re late 20’s and will add nothing in the long term.

Go and get a young midfielder with big potential from abroad, who would be on 1/3 of the wages. The likes of longstaff type players, should be free transfers to bulk up the squad on short term deals.

But mctominay would have cost a fortune, Utd wanted 40mil and he’d be on big wages. I’m not sure them signings are what TFG want, dyche of course would have loved him and he’s better than what we have, but is he worth 70 million pounds investment at nearly 28

Not suggesting we should have paid those mad amounts, but initially when the rumours started (and no price was known), many people dismissed the idea not on cost, but that he wasn't good enough for us. My point is that had he joined us he would immediately have become our top scorer (not difficult I know). I want us to be bringing in boss players, but I do think we have to trim our expectations for this and possibly next season too.

Idea would be for Longstaff and DCL to be swapped for decent fees even though they have 6 months left on contracts, both good returns for PSR and would help us sign players this winter.

We can still sign other players with higher potential.

Although not exciting he’s a solid PL player and would be a good squad option.

McT would have been a great signing for us. But not at those numbers.

Perfect full-back for Dyche. Would like someone with better quality on his crosses myself.

Agree with you on both counts, fullbacks maybe more than any other position have to be thought of in combination to the winger ahead as well, get the combo right and you can take solid players and turn them into an exceptional pair (Baines-Pienaar, Steven-Stephens) being two very prime examples for us.
