2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

The reset button is pressed this summer with new owners, stadium and squad. This season was always about staying up to see the new dawn but Dyche has made it more of a struggle than it needed to be. Yet again we have thrown away games and need to pick up points when you least expect them.
Like I said before, the topic has been thrashed to death. There are multiple reasons why points have been thrown away and, in my opinion, blaming it all on Dyche isn't being totally fair. He'll very likely be gone by the start of next season anyway. Other clubs (and Bournemouth and Forest top that list) have shown there's no room for sentiment. Regardless of anyone's opinion, he definitely deserves credit for managing a really bad situation much better than the likes of Lampard.

I’m not blaming all of the ills of the club on Dyche. I do blame him however for conceding the ball as standard, particularly at home in our ‘winnable’ games.

To be fair, with the December fixtures the way they were, was that necessarily a bad plan? We'll know more after the Forest game.

You have to be really anti Dyche to criticise him for Chelsea set up. That was spot on.

No way however should it have been as negative for Fulham at home as it was. Forest are better than Fulham so that's an intriguing one and he really needs to get the mentality right.

Anyone know what our possession stats have been over past 5-6 years ? I'd imagine there's a direct correlation with the quality of player we have had on the payroll.

It's literally the managers job to improve the players though, either via coaching or tactics. Managers sometimes just have to work with what they have and get the best out of them squeezing every last drop both physically and tactically. They can't just expect too spend their way out of trouble every time there is a transfer window open. Bar a few stalwarts like Pickford, Coleman, Keane and DCL the team has changed quite a bit in recent years yet the same excuses for the same poor managers keep getting made imo. None of these players are winning a CL anytime soon but they are nowhere as bad as some of our fans like to make out, not even close to it.

Agree re Chelsea. The thing is - he's done what he's done with no real budget (based on circumstances) and he inherited a striker who currently can't hit a barn door from 2 metres. The one bought, despite a great attitude, isn't much better. The thing I can't work out is what he could have done differently.

I'm not a huge Dyche fan and this will all become moot when he's replaced sooner rather than later, but he definitely deserves credit for keeping us up twice. We were heading elsewhere under Lampard. I also accept that we've been lucky on both occasions in that there have fortunately been some pretty poor teams at the bottom but keeping us up last year was a good effort bearing in mind the deductions.

I don't believe a new manager will make this squad play better. My view is if Pep Guardiola walked in tomorrow he's not getting these to play better.
If you think a new manager with financial assistance will make Everton better then that's a different argument.

He's got the team to be:

1: Able to beat Wolves 4-0
2: Able to keep a clean sheet vs Arsenal
3: Able to keep a clean sheet vs Chelsea

Our players arent THAT good

17th for in the form table since the 1st November. People banging on about how well he is doing and how he is turning it round 😂
Err, could look at us being 15th in the actual league having not got a point in the first four games.

Will you be sure to update your form table after the next 4 games mert?

While we are on the subject… MikeH72 I believe you asked very nicely to be kept up to date on the form table last time it was mentioned.

2d
And a match postponed.

Puts us 9th in the form table during this period with a game in hand.
Hopefully that’s provided you with some Christmas cheer. 🎅

Is this Joker still here?

Any manager with even a basic knowledge of tactics is getting more from this group, starting with playing the players in their correct positions. I'm fully aware of what Sean Dyche is but pretending that nobody else can do the role is just an outright lie like something straight from the Kenwright brainwashing manifesto

Zat, this is big boy football not one of your game saves where you get to pretend we are some sort of poor mans Aletico Madrid.

I think the game plan tonight will tells us a lot about how tactically sound Dyche is.

Watched every city game during their poor form and a common theme involves conceding most of their goals from counter attack, unable to handle pressing like they used to, poor at defending set pieces. Surely a game plan is not beyond Dyche?
