2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

IF we had got rid of Dyche before other teams sacked their managers, would he have been a target for any of them? Reality is, probably Southampton and Leicester would have considered him, and perhaps Wolves, as someone who could keep them up.

Survival is sadly currently the best we can hope for, and the new owners know it, so I think they will seek to stabilise many other aspects of the club and get a structure in place before considering a different manager, especially in terms of approach and style. Either way it is a short-term gamble, and I would have thought that from their perspective there is probably less longer-term risk in sticking with Dyche than making a change now.

Look at Leicester - they've made the change and no improvement, so what do they do now... sack RVN and try someone else???
This is all true - until results turn. And when they do, then all the stability arguments - the only things keeping him in a job - fall away.

That's why I think a change of manager could happen as early as next month. I hope it happens in May, but circumstances will dictate things - and it's results that control those. Beat Forest and he's likely to still be in situ by February. Lose to Forest and Bournemouth and there won't be too many feeling that Dyche is still the safe bet he appears to be today.

Say that happens, who do you think could (or would agree) to take the job on and change it quickly enough with this group of players @Drico? Especially as more than half of them have a get out of jail free card at the end of the season any way.

And, for the avoidance of doubt, I am in no hurry to move on to our new era. That starts, as far as I'm concerned, on the day after the last day of this season. I hope Dyche sees out his contract. I think he's done an admirable job and he should keep it for as long as keeping him makes us more likely to survive than replacing him does.

This season is all about staying up. I'm very hopeful that we will - but will take nothing for granted until we can put significant space between us and the bottom three.

I predict that Dave will now redefine the word "striker".

Is Ndiaye not a striker? And why the fixation on strikers getting chances? WTF does it matter who gets them? Arsenal's goals are coming from corners with CBs as the main goal threat.

How are the haters now distinguishing between strikers and other outfield players getting chances?...oh yeah, because they're blinded by hate.

As you were.
:coffee:

Goals from set pieces don’t count

Deflected goals don’t count

Goals from rebounds don’t count

Goals from outside the box don’t count

Goals from players who don’t play in a central striking position don’t count

They of course absolutely count when we concede them..obviously
I mean, chances that don't go in the net literally don't count as goals. Just saying.

I keep seeing this but nobody can tell me why it’s the case. Was it too much to ask to finish in and around where we finished last season, which was mid table without points deductions? Why are we on course for 38 points, what’s gone wrong there?

Are we allowed to maybe throw the suggestion out there that the manager has put us back into a relegation battle? We’re currently 4 points off 19th place, it’s not looking likely that we’ll be able to draw our way to safety. I don’t understand why this season ever had to be so stressful and desperate.

I'd be very concerned that anybody could - hence my wish that Dyche glides to the end of his natural contract in May. These players are abysmal and I remain convinced that a large segment of the fanbase massively overrates these abject mediocrities.

However, there is a scenario where the club makes money available in January to a new manager, appointed with the knoweldge that this is the start of a major project. Nobody will be joining the Everton we have all known since 1999. This is a new club with new owners, a new stadium, and new ambition. I think this is only activated if results go south quickly.

But as soon as we are safe - whether that is in March or May, then there will be a change, in my view - whether that's openly announced or simply prepared behind the scenes to hit the ground running on June 1.

Wouldnt say hope mine is more pressure is on for him to get the points now get us safe, try impress to keep his job and get a new deal here (prob wont happen or do i want) or impress to get a new club. Agree is about staying up finishing as high as possible to get more prize money.

There is no great benefit to the owners if we finish 11th or 17th. All that matters to their project and investment is we remain a Premier League club. Given we had very little to spend in recent seasons, they will have budgeted for survival. Anything else is a bonus.

Essentially, there are very low standards at this club - but that's largely a consequence of having very poor owners.

New owners, new competence, new ambtion, new manager.

“This season is all about survival” appears to be coming from the manager though and certainly not the new owners. He would love our ambition to be 17th because that’s where he likes to operate to keep the bar of expectation on himself as low as possible, because it helps him cover up how basic and limited a manager he is.

We finished 12th last season and he couldn’t get in front of the media quick enough to tell us how it doesn’t count and it was a fluke and we’re back in a relegation battle because the players are crap. Frankly I’m astonished some of them still appear to be playing for them, all he’s done is slag them off since he got here and try to hoover up all the credit himself for any good performances.

I don't think he can keep his job, i.e., get a contract extension. He's just not the right fit.

https://www.90min.com/premier-league-prize-money dont agree witht that at all is a benefit getting even a small amount of extra money from the cup/league finish will help.

You can only judge the demands of the owners by what they put on the table, financially. Moshiri turned off the taps. So, the ambition was survival - at best.

Dyche would not be at an ambitious club. He is here because we are where we are.

As soon as survival is ensured, the new guys will activate their plan. That won't include Dyche.
