Well Harrison was an option last season but in all honesty I've not seen Lindstrom as a step up from Danjuma. That could change if he manages to adapt to the PL but as of yet he's not showing it. Even a genuine world class player like Bergkamp took a while to find his feet though so hope springs eternal.
Onana and Ndiaye perform / performed completely different roles so I wouldn't compare them directly. Ndiaye is an upgrade in that he pushes either McNeill or (preferably) Harrison out of the side and though I wasn't a massive fan of Onana I still think Mangala is a fairly significant downgrade in centre mid though of course we're better with the option rather than just Doucore and Gueye with Garner on the physios bench.
But it does go with my point that we've constantly sold our bigger assets and replaced them with less quality. And with yet another year on the older legs I'm not sure the additions are enough to deliver an overall upgrade on last years squad. If I was feeling generous I'd say we've at best stood still in terms of quality and in the PL that is nowhere near what is needed to stand still in terms of results.
I'm not a huge fan of Dyche, despite the profile pic, but without investment I can't see many managers getting much of a tune from this squad with a transfer policy that has been so strongly slanted towards income over spending for a not insignificant period of time with recruitment that maybe gives favourable payment terms a little too much emphasis over player quality.
A manager more concerned with footballing aesthetics, their 'vision' or the right way of playing would see us similar to Southampton or Burnley at their worst last year. Until the purse strings are loosened then dour pragmatism, direct play and frustration are probably the safer route to PL football in the new ground.
Sack Dyche by all means but whoever comes in will need backing.
