Have I just been unlucky or have other female fans been getting more hassle before and after games recently?

I’ve been going to the game for many years, with my Dad, husband, friends or on my own, and would previously have said it’s always felt safe, but within the last months I’ve had someone grab the waistband of my jeans in the pub and try to pull them down, then last night a group of fellow Evertonians took over the quiet carriage of the train I was on back from London, intimidated me and a few other women travelling alone, to the extent that I messaged Avanti and they advised me to move elsewhere, and then shouted a few nasty things after me as I left the carriage.

That's not nice to hear. 💙

I'd like to hope you were just unlucky and we aren't seeing a spike in such neanderthal behaviour.

Sorry you had to experience this (aswell as watch that 'game)

Very sad to hear this.

Unfortunately I fear a reflection of wider society and another example of the emboldening of neanderthal xenophobic and sexist behaviours that are become rife lately.

Hope you made it home alright and got your fella’s dinner on without a problem.
Last bits a joke ffs

Shitehouse behaviour.
Hope your OK...

Applaing behaviour ,I’m really sorry you’ve had to experience this , I’ve noticed on the last two aways I’ve been to Villa and Southampton that standards in behaviour are dropping

This is appalling, sorry to hear that.

My girlfriend has had some nasty experiences over the last year or so around the game too.

Fellas on her row have sat down on her knee - despite their being empty seats to her left and right. They’ve tried to kiss her, grab her etc while celebrating.

Dont know why fellas are getting more empowered to act like horrible deviants at the game these days, but someone needs to sort it out

This is absolutely disgusting

Have you considered reporting it to the British transport police. Those trains will have CCTV

Avanti, like most train company’s, being completely useless.
Where’s BTP when you need them? Would it have been that difficult to get a couple of busys to the next station if passengers are being intimidated?

Difficult when you’re feeling a bit vulnerable but would have been good to get some images of these embarrassing clowns as I would hope the club would take it up with the London Supporters club to see if they were known.

Avanti were helpful, in that they found me and the other girls seats in first class. However, there were only two staff and they left the clowns to it, in a carriage on their own, rather than tackling them or calling the BTP.

We're living in really dark times. The election of the orange menace has sent out a signal to the neanderthals that - sadly - make up close to 50% of the male population at any given time. The rest of us are going to have to stand up and be counted now. This is a disgrace.
