Don’t think many of us, especially those who witnessed the 1980’s teams would argue as a player he holds legendary status. However his connection to our previous regime that almost brought our club to a grounding halt somewhat tarnished his reputation.

That regime also left a true club Legend in Neville Southall out in the cold. As for sharps interview with the Scotsman, well I’m not to bothered about him either…

I don't think many of us who don't like what he became or continuing to do through this interview, would care one way or another if he showed up.

If the mid 80's side are at Goodison for the last game, then he should be there AND I'm sure he would get applause if his name was called for what he helped deliver on the pitch in those years. He is the one with the paranoia thinking the fans are out to get him. We just wanted accountability, they all should have taken the hint sooner and things would have been just dandy.

He needs to look in the mirror and understand why people were upset and probably agree he would have been the same if he were on the other side of the fence. He can then work out if he is an Evertonian or not, button it about his time as a director and celebrate what he did here as a player.

No I agree with nearly all that , im not upset he isn’t at the ground im upset a man I idolised changed my opinion of him. Would he care probably not but do I , of course having illusions shattered is a bit crap .

I said I was adamant of my opinion at the least he owed us an apology and or an explanation. I then mellowed but if anything the latest articles are more likely to push me back to my previous position . I think reports of him being emotional
At events are genuine but that’s now how the articles paint the picture .

Guess hate is a bit over the top with this subject. Anything connected with Bill’s association with EFC has unanimously ended in utter disaster.

Granted he got Usmanov on board, his termination of association was not his fault.

In my humble opinion, Sharp just robbed a living. Seriously don’t have a clue what he was doing being anywhere near the boardroom? Thankfully won’t be seeing any of that small time behaviour with TFG ..

I expect if he disappeared off the radar for a year we'd have a whole new set of people to be grumpy with.

A good few years ago there was a protest against the board sharp was doing commentary for the radio for the match and desrcribed it as one man and his dog , that was the start of it I think

He should never have supported his boss. He’d have been better keeping us own counsel and now as well. The club he played for was his employer, not Bill Kenwright.

Out of touch for sure.

DBB and Ingles have more to answer for - given the PSR mess - but they'll be forgotten.

Seems unfair the spotlight falls on Sharp - but also telling - he is an important part of the club's history.

It seems he has more of a gripe with us than the other way round. Fans criticised him for his silence and subservience to kenwright.

The way the club was run and our precarious financial/league positions means fans absolutely had a right to criticise him as he was part of the board.

“I just think the way things happened … it’s a difficult one. To be treated the way we were, was awful,” he says. “People don’t know what went on but they were quick to make a judgement and could not be further from the truth. I just think the stick that I got was totally undeserved, and I thought – nah, I don’t need it.

“I have not been back, not that the football club has invited me back. Numerous people and my friends have invited me to go with them, and I still have season tickets, but I don’t see myself going back.”

That comes across as someone who won't accept the role he and the rest of the board members had and the mismanagement they wilfully oversaw. The apology you ask about only needed to be him saying "looking back, I can see why the fans were frustrated". He has chosen not to do that.

Not really mate sharp was a icon to the same fans who where trying to save the club he should have known better and said nothing at all
