What is up with Dele Alli?

Poor lad really seems to suffer from mental health problems..

Be great to see him get back.

Had the footballing world at his feet....

He really didn't need Jose Mourinho in his life. Bad fit for both
Was on a downward slope before Mourinho went to spurs but I'm sure he didn't give Dele much help in trying to recover

If they kept him on the payroll indefinitely I wouldn't begrudge it. The crowd that night was really positive and even though we were two down at half time there wasn't a boo to be heard in the ground but everyone was saying "he's got to change something." Even Dele coming out to warm up lifted the crowd, I think he replaced Gomes who'd had a shocker of a half. He showed for the ball, gave DCL someone to play off - he made things happen and without him we were walking out of Goodison that might wondering if we'd face Barnsley or Rochdale or someone in our last home game at the old lady. Training with us without pay till he's fit. Of all the problems we have, Dele isn't one of them.
Fist sentence - massive small club mentality right there.

I was there that night and all of that is true. You have to remember it was his shot that Richy got the rebound and it was his block which allowed Dom to win his header. However, apart from this he’s not done anything for us in about 2 years. The saga continues. If I where Everton I would offer him a pay as you play deal for a year and then if he can prove his fitness etc (the etc being let’s also not forget he’s been a bit of a bell in the past with balloons etc) then see about a proper contract later on, but he probably won’t want that as he will know he’s either itching his feet to play again and get boss or he’s actually not bothered and once another payoff or two before hanging up his boots.

One thing for sure is we cannot ever do a deal like this again once we get into the new stadium. Nobody else wants him, Everton will!!!!!! We always seem to be the graveyard for these types of players and it’s always the club who suffer because of it.

Honest to God, some of the cringe that Liverpool supporters get (rightly) panned for across this forum is nothing in comparison to the fawning over 45 minutes of footy that, in the end had no bearing on our survival whatsoever.

DCL probably gives us a good half of footy every few games and gets a dog's abuse, but this lad should have a statue outside BMD according to some of you lot. Utterly mental.

Both things can be true: The club has done the right thing in trying to help him get through his issues and hopefully back to playing one day, AND he is absolutely finished as a top flight footballer and his return should NOT be for us, no matter how many platitudes KT vomits up before the assembled press.

Statue is OTT.
There’s a case for a stand at BMD though surely?
