BTW these were comfortably the worst team I saw at Goodison last year. On the day they were much worse than likes of Burnley and Sheffield United. As easy a 3-0 as you could get that day.

In the 11 months since that game their record is probably comfortable top 8 if you looked at the general standards.

I keep on apologising to my grown up children for what I have condemned them to supporting Everton. I don't have the heart to do the same with my grandchildren. It is their parents' responsibility not mine.

Things will turn better by Christmas. Optimism will return and hope will spring forth. A lot depends on whether maybe 2 teams (not us) get cut adrift by around new year.

Everton FC cannot simply waltz into home fixtures against the likes of Brighton & Hove Albion (biggest achievement in their history was being FA Cup runners up in 1983) and Bournemouth (biggest achievement in their history was winning the Championship in 2015) and expect anything more than stealing a late point.

These are exceptional football teams.
