Monkey Man is pretty nuts. Looks great and Dev Patel does a good job both as the star and as first time director. It is incredibly violent, more so than I was expecting even having seen the trailer. Also probably a bit too long at 2 hours. Definitely worth checking out though if you’re into this genre.

Reviews are off the scale good.

'The power of the dog' is on bbc2 at 11:05pm but I'm not sure I have the appetite for such right now. Reviews are all rather stellar, shame to miss it.

I thought it was tedious dog dirt, it’s so slow and cabbage patch just cannot pull you in as he has no charisma or acting chops outside of imitation game. It sits at the very apex of all that is patience testing wank (thank you Stuart Lee).

Have you encountered the nic coppola fan club on here? the guys a menace. And they still queue up to worship. The film equivalent of Ali Dia.
Yes, I believe we have had the same dance a few times Rita, most if not all of them are clearly on a wind up. I’ve always wondered whether Nic Cage has less shame or less ability. After watching some of the Wicker man remake I’m still none the wiser.

I sometimes stay away from behind the scenes features, as I feel it takes away some of the film's magic. I get worried when I next see a certain scene, instead of watching the film, I'll remember how it was created etc.
