Hi all,
I'm a somewhat newer Everton fan from the States, about 10 years or so now supporting the club, so I do not have as much history as most of you. I've just been to Goodison once thus far, in 2019 (2-0 over Burnley). I'm curious about how people feel about players coming onto the pitch with the traditional Z Cars music (and yes I'm aware it's theme music from a TV show).

How long has it been our theme music? Is it time for a change (getting stale?) or is it simply classic/expected? I can't even recall if it was Z Cars when I first started supporting Everton. Sometimes I think it would be cool to have our players come out to a typical rock anthem of some sort which might be more motivating. I'm not looking for a poll or even advocating a change, I'm pretty respectful of tradition. Just curious what our fans think, I welcome all opinions/comments. And if you think it's time for a change, any suggestions? I wonder if Z Cars will carry to the new stadium.
[I'll brace myself now for snarky song titles tied to our umm...current predicament.] But seriously...
Thanks. :)

Z Cars is fine.

It's based on the traditional folk song "Johnny Todd", which according to Wikipedia was in a collection of traditional songs by Frank Kidson dated 1891 called Traditional Tunes: A Collection of Ballad Airs. Kidson's notes for this song say: "Johnny Todd is a child's rhyme and game, heard and seen played by Liverpool children."

Preferable to a generic "rock anthem", which I honestly think would be cringe AF.

If you want to change little bits of Everton like this cos you're bored then it might be better to go find another club pal.

There'll next be crass, tacky jets of flame and stupid tunes when a goals scored, plus quarters for more advertising opportunities if more yanks get into football.

All ideas and thoughts are welcome, especially from our wider fan base in the US of A.
Sometimes a clear mind not muddled by the dogma of our past can bear the seeds of new beginnings.
What particular Rock Anthem did you have in mind friend?
