The last 2 for starters, never commands his box and his shot stopping isnt the greatest at times

He's rarely beat by an easy to stop shot.

Shot stopping is defintely NOT one of Howard's problems.

Could he work on his communication with the back four a bit more? Yeah sure. But most keepers have an area that they could improve upon.

I have yet to see an Everton match with Howard in the back where he made me feel uncomfortable about him being back there.

Not saying it can't happen in the future but it hasn't happened yet.

He has his moments like most goalies but he is far better on his day and much more consistent

Cech. When playing like he did last year. Yes. On current form. No.

We're talking a big improvement and in my mind, none of those are a big improvement over Howard.

But better on his day and more consistent? Let's ask any neutral what they think. Howard or Robinson?

I'm fairly confident that you'd get at least 80% for Howard. I'm guessing closer to 90%. Wouldn't even be close.

I thought you knew a thing or two about football.

Let's do the "Robinson Test" but put in David James.

Same result. Guaranteed.

The only names on the list that you'd get over Howard would be Reina & Cech. VDS & Given would be a toss up. The rest would come in well behind.

I have wondered that one as well TX, I would touch Robinson with a barge pole but we do need a decent substitute keeper, Wessels scares me every time he plays. Tim has matched Big Nevs clean sheet record which, considering the season start is a magnificent achievement and a surprising one. I do think he has weakness's, especially the long low shot, which maybe caused by his eye twitch. He is a decent keeper though and he will do for me because to splash money out big time on a replacement would guarantee success and we need the money for other positions long before a new number one keeper

If Howard was letting shots in right and left, we'll then it would be obvious that we need a replacement.

But it's obvious we don't. Not now. Not in the near future.

You know what. You may be right. Doesn't make him a better keeper though.

I think they'd command about the same and from the same clubs frankly.
