6 + 2 Point Deductions

Too bad we're dealing with rules of a private club where they can make up whatever rules they like and enforce them arbitrarily rather than actual law
When it spills over into damaging people's livelihoods (redundancies post relegation/liquidation) and denying the city of Liverpool a chance of income/jobs/regeneration, then IMO there's more than enough grounds to clean out the PL for damages in a real court.

So according to reports the club have admitted their guilt and then told the fans they are not guilty. We are an absolute laughing stock.
Club statement says we've 'acknowledged' the second breach.. not 'accepted' it.

They had no choice but to submit the 2022/23 books knowing that there was a breach there too because the last commission found that the amount that we breached over shouldn't be mitigated, which obviously the club still strong disagrees with, so in these latest books it'll be a similar case to the last breach - hence why a successful appeal would, theoretically, wipe both out.

Everton statement:

Everton Football Club acknowledges the Premier League’s decision to refer a breach of Profit & Sustainability rules (PSR) for the assessment period ending with the 2022/23 season to an independent Premier League commission. This relates to a period which covers seasons 2019/20, 2020/21, 2021/22 and 2022/23. It therefore includes financial periods (2019/20, 2020/21 and 2021/22) for which the Club has already received a 10-point sanction. The Club is currently appealing that sanction. The Premier League does not have guidelines which prevent a Club being sanctioned for alleged breaches in financial periods which have already been subject to punishment, unlike other governing bodies, including the EFL. As a result - and because of the Premier League’s new commitment to deal with such matters “in-season” - the Club is in a position where it has had no option but to submit a PSR calculation which remains subject to change, pending the outcome of the appeal. The Club must now defend another Premier League complaint which includes the very same financial periods for which it has already been sanctioned, before that appeal has even been heard. The Club takes the view that this results from a clear deficiency in the Premier League’s rules. Everton can assure its fans that it will continue to defend its position during the ongoing appeal and, should it be required to do so, at any future commission – and that the impact on supporters will be reflected as part of that process.

I'm at work so can't spend all day reading peoples posts but okay..

Everton should take a dim view of the PL framework. To be honest all of this is complete hogwash all clubs should be free to have losses unless it results in administration. It's there. What can you do?

I'm more angry with Everton because it feels like their get out clause is the existing sanction and appeal. Who the fug got us in this mess in the first place?
If we're a club that is STILL struggling to balance the books and STILL having to take loans to tie things over, then SELL the star players. We cannot have this
situation happen year after year we know the PL are a bunch of corrupt you know what's but we have to sort our own mess out one way or another. The people
at the club have been going through this long enough now a handful of years, to balance the books and be clear of trouble. Something is not right for them to
continue to be this bad.

And the club say they "acknowledge" the decision of the PL to refer them

And that our figures are subject to change. I assume this is in reference to the appeal.

I acknowledge right now that we have been given a 10 point penalty this season. But I also think it's the most ridiculous penalty I've ever seen handed out in professional sport.
