That half pretty much sums up this Everton team ATM...

Good defensive shape, industrious, made some good chances but no goal scorers, struggle to keep hold of the ball.

Garner took the latest direct Free Kick, as I was reminded on X, the last time we scored a direct free kick was Digne v Lincoln in 2019. So my question is why bother shooting? We haven`t got a dead ball specialist so why not stick it in the mixer, we are top of that stat, set piece goals.

The other thing, when was the last time DCL scored a 1 on 1, if that is the other end Watkins doesn`t miss, DCL is a poor poor Premier League striker. Before this game I saw a stat saying he has missed the most clear cut chances of any player in the PL, there is another one. About time he contributed something or it is time to cut our losses on him! I`m sure we`d get a decent fee which would go someway to helping the PSR situation.

We`ve had the better chances IMO, but this reminds me of the Utd and City game where they will just blow us away in the second half.

Doucs makes a significant difference to the side. Erratic but significant

I wonder if DCL missing that chance might be a blessing in disguise? Go 1-0 up with 50+ minutes to play might have roused Villa to greater efforts. Need to break the deadlock in 89th minute IMO

It frustrates me how chaotic we are when we get the ball, there's just no calmness in the pass or the play. We just try and force it through with no thought as if there's a second left in the half.
So annoying how we get the ball back think let’s have it for a minute, then Pickford smashes forward and with in 10secs back with Villa. And apart from the danjuma pass our forward passing is terrible

That replay from behind of the dcl chance just shows how bad that miss was. He had a large chunk of the goal wide open to the left and he hits it virtually central. Terrible technique and shocking for a premier league striker.

I’ve seen nothing to think that Danjuma is ready for this level of competition
His decision making is appalling
Sometimes Doucoure will see a pass and mess it up and you go ‘ok he’s not a technical player’ but Danjuma has all the talent in the world but just keeps his head down, runs and shoots

Was a good pass to put in Dom but that’s one moment in half a season

Wouldn't be surprised to see Dobbin for Danjuma with Harrison switching around 60mins.

If we get in front Danjuma for Mcneil on about 75. I think McNeil is on the bench to potentially defend a lead from the wings. If he was completely fit he'd be in the starting.
