Its interesting to see a fair few people disagree. shows there are different interpretations to laws.

The law is clear...Definitely a foul. However, concept of fairness which is the overarching goal of the laws of the game would indicate that giving a penalty when he is nowhere near the ball would be unduly harsh. For better or worse, the rules in football are largely left to the discretion of the match officials to ensure a fair competition. That there are doubt about that is not down to the rules, but the honestly of the referees.

Pawson gave the penalty for Rooney to score from in 2017, he’s probably paying back klopp still from the audacity of giving Everton a penalty at anfield ( that one was the first since 1988 )no two ways about this,this guy has a serious bone to pick with Everton fc

yes but it doesnt really count as it was the 88th minute and we were already down to 10 men too so we had no advantage

I agree and that is the reason why we absolutely have to have the refs mic'd up in the stadium so that we can hear their thought processes and justifications in real time. They'll still do stuff we disagree with but these stupid and unaccountable 'slips' should reduce
