Sir Landon Of Donovan

I agree with Wynalda's comments, to a point, as it concerns wanting LD to stay at Everton. But he has never struck me as a player who views playing full time outside of his home area in California as a career ambition.

I just appreciate the fact he shows up in an Everton shirt and gives it everything he's got for the time he's at GP.

He is a game-changer who makes everyone around him better. Just like Brian McBride in his prime.

I appreciate Landon's loyalty. He's passionate about the American game. We are asking him to desert that for his career. It's ironic that we should be in that position tbh. It's up to him. He deserves it but he should be praised if he decides to stay in LA and continue to raise the profile of football in America.

Wynalda is OK, very much a US-homer and of course he'd love to have Landon playing in the Everton games Fox Soccer Channel show, that way he can do a little more US-homering. I don't dislike him, he's just stating an opinion, he just wants to see another American do well in the Premiership. I get the impression from him that he's more a Donovan fan than a Dempsey man, despite Landon eclipsing his goal-scoring record.

As far as Landon, this current Galaxy club are trying to establish themselves as best-ever in the MLS, if they were to win the domestic 'quad' including win the CCL - something they have a great shot at doing - and have a good showing at the FIFA Club World Cup, they have a case as being the best ever even compared to the Cosmos mid-70s run.

I wouldn't be surprised if after this upcoming MLS season that Landon seeks to return to Goodison on a permanent basis.

BTW, Landon > Dempsey! 'Nuff said!

I'm also american.

I'm american and i'll take demps thank you very much and sleep like a baby with the decision. Love what lando is doing here but unless fully commits he'll always be a what if. Also ask any hardcore american soccer fan to choose and believe me the split on choice will be about down the middle. Its only when you talk yo the casual or non fan that you'll get the landslide donovan vote.
Your opinion only. Ask any American...hands down Donovan...not even close.

I actually agree with skid row in that Donovan is the bigger celebrity, but plenty of people think that Dempsey is actually the better player. I guess it depends on what you are looking for in a player. But is donovan for me all day every day.

Well, this 'hardcore american soccer fan' says Landon is a lot better despite Clint's goal scoring ability. I'm surprised you infer you're a 'hardcore' fan and don't see that Landon is by-far and away the more well-rounded player. More power to Clint, as an American I like to see Dempsey do well but no way is Clint in Landon's class.
