Meh, what I said to a polish PR guy in krakow who wouldn't let us into a club. I'd sum it up as a worker ant empire, with no imagination and very poor dress sense.

Fewer "free thinkers" perhaps - but many more great generals, engineers, businessmen, historians, writers, orators etc; and they managed to create a society that was by almost any measurable statistic better than anything seen on the entire planet before the 19th century (which is of course why most of European history since has actively looked back to it as an inspiration).
