With Gordons slight strain, and with them having lots of important games coming up, and it being against us specifically, you would think he will keep Gordon on the bench and rotate a little. Maybe bring him on for 10 mins at the end when they are 3:0 down.

One thing for sure, as soon as we go near them they'll fall down looking for free kicks. An awful team to watch. A win would be a great tonic but I'd take a point. But I feel the officials will have a bearing on what we get tonight.

Thank you, you lovable scouse rogue, (well possibly). Team news is pretty [Poor language removed], Howe doesn't often surprise us with players being back fit when not expected so I would think it's going to be the same team, with Dubravka replacing Pope. From our side of the fence, Pope being out for four months is a big blow. His distribution isn't great but his general shot stopping, etc. is top rate.

Of the subs last week, the only one that I can see possibly starting is Hall, other than him Dummett is available to cover any defensive injury (to be fair I like him he's a good old fashioned defender who doesn't think he's anything other than that) or Krafth and Richie available for anywhere else. After that, it's kids. Any more injuries and I'll have to get my white Alan Ball boots out of the coal shed.

What people don't realise about that horse, he was at Orgreave, he was an SPG horse and he had it coming, miners have got long memories!!!
Hell of a life span to have lasted that long!!

Home form is absolutely shocking so set up and play as if its an away game. Don't really care what we look like at home if it means we actually win some games. Got to sort this home form out, it is humiliating.

Some interesting stats....
  • Everton have lost five of their last six Premier League games against Newcastle (W1), as many as they had in their previous 24 against them (W13 D6).
  • Newcastle won this exact fixture 4-1 last season, and are looking to secure back-to-back away league victories against Everton for the first time since a run of three between 1958 and 1960.
  • Everton have lost their last four midweek (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) Premier League matches, conceding four goals in each of the last three. Their last such game was a 4-1 home defeat to Newcastle on a Thursday in April last season.
  • Newcastle have won their last three midweek (Tues, Weds, Thurs) Premier League matches by an aggregate score of 13-3.
  • Having won three of their first four Premier League home games under Sean Dyche (L1), Everton have won just two of their last 12 at Goodison Park (D2 L8), with both of those victories coming against Bournemouth.
  • Newcastle have won just one of their last eight Premier League away games (D4 L3), beating Sheffield United 8-0 in September. They’ve conceded twice in each of their last three on the road, last doing so in four straight away Premier League games between April and August 2015.
  • No team has failed to score in more different Premier League home games than Everton so far this season (4). All eight of their goals at Goodison Park in all competitions this term (5x Premier League, 3x EFL Cup) have been scored by different players.
  • Ignoring their 10 point deduction, Everton have earned just 23.5% of their Premier League points in home games this season (4/17). Last season, 58.3% of their points came at Goodison Park (21/36).
  • Everton have opened the scoring in four of their last five Premier League matches, and have yet to lose when scoring first in the competition under Sean Dyche (W10 D4).
  • Newcastle’s Callum Wilson has scored eight goals in his last eight Premier League away games. He’s also scored four braces against Everton in the competition (including in each of his last two away games against them), with only Harry Kane (6) and Alan Shearer (5) scoring multiple goals against the Toffees more often in the Premier League.

We need to score first seems to be the takeaway here.
It can't be as depressing as the same fixture last season, surely. That felt like another nail in the coffin then.

A win tonight gets us out of the relegation zone builds confidence on the home form, sets us up nicely for Chelsea at the weekend and the confidence they will get from beating a very good Newcastle team.

Now is the time to turn this home form around.

If im right i dont think we have got a single point from conceding first this season.

I dont think when we have scored first we have lost a single game either.

Scoring first for this team under Dyche is an absolute must.

It would also heap pressure on a few others, that aren’t necessarily used to it. Would be HUGE on so many levels, including continuing to raise that middle finger a little higher.
