6 + 2 Point Deductions

They didn't have the debt and general mayhem we'll have when / if we get relegated.
Sadly, I agree. We're financially constrained as a PL club, so if we were to be relegated, the purse strings wouldn't be just pulled tight...

It's comparing apples and oranges: Newcastle under Ashley, for example, were already frugal and ran well in terms of being a business. We are not.

Burnley and Sheff Utd are down. That's almost certain.

Luton are the low hanging fruit, but they have 5 points on us and we desperately need to peg them back to 2 points arrears today.

Ilm looking ahead and seeing us possibly panic when / if we fall behind in the next few weeks !by more than 5 points...and that is by no means impossible.
Over the last 20 pages there’s virtually only one poster attempting to generate any element of panic on here by trying to make out that Luton have suddenly turned into prime time Barcelona - any guesses who that may?
Dyche doesn’t appear to be panicking, the message from all the players is there’s no panic in the dressing room.
Doubt there will be much panicking on the terraces at Goodison.
Posters on here, with one contrarian exception, aren’t panicking, they’re just mystified, angry and very defiant!
We will not be relegated this season

I can't make my mind up if this 10 points is as some say because they want Everton down, or if it is truly drawing a line in the sand to decimate Man City, Chelsea and others. Both scenarios seem dubious to me to be honest.
So why?
1 charge against us because we slightly overspent with massive mitigating circumstances draws 10 points, so what will City's 115 charges draw?
I truly believe it's either a knee jerk that will be rejected on appeal, or a carefully planned gamble to send out a huge warning shot to others.
Either way I'm certain the appeal will be successful with a reduction of the punishment.
I just can't see how they can leave it like it is. It is so far over the top it just can't stand up to scrutiny.
They introduced a rule for a player to be banned if found diving. Only one player was ever convicted of this - an Everton player - and then quietly forgotten.

Niasse didn't even dive either! So, the whole principle of the PL/FA or whoever setting a precedent is undermined because they will happily move the goalposts.

The Athletic have already reported that the sentencing guidelines for the panel were not PL-wide, but rather Everton specific. We're merely a pawn in a bigger issue.

Still, I think we will have the points lowered under appeal now extra information is coming out.

They can change the rules going forward, but they must still be judged against the charges that were brought.

I don't however, for one second, think that they will get judged as heavily as us.
You would hope / assume so, but the bottom line is, as we have discovered, they make it up as they go along.
This isn’t law or statutory regulations, this is a private entity / competition who can and have done what they want.
Looking like it’s backfired on them though hopefully as it was all window dressing to keep the gov regulator out and it’s looking more likely than ever now.

I do wonder if we've been a thorn in the side to some of the other clubs over the years. One of the big issues over the years, has been clubs wanting to sell individual tv rights. We've always been opposed to that.

We occupy a unique position, don't forget. There's 6 beloved clubs who are ever presents since the Premier League formed, and then there's also us, the stakeholders who have also spent more time in this top division than any of them.

Manchester City aren’t an ever present in the PL.

In fact they were third tier circa the turn of the century.
