Everton Youth Teams Thread

Full Tme
Everton u18s 1 Derby u18s 3

A fully deserved Derby win

Academy lost 1-0 at Newcastle
Another good weekend for our youth
Anyone get to see (any of) these games? Any decent individual performances to at least shine a positive light? This thread used to be my happy place on here. At least the 1st team seem to be turning a corner and heading in the right direction.

I know its a thing said on here so often, but the results really don't matter here!

Law of averages suggest we get maybe 2 of the lads from the under 18s & 21s to make an appearance for the first team.

It sounds bad, but it is more about finding the individuals that have the better chance and utilising the others to tender to the better players needs/requirements

….except often a really good player is reflected in team performance. Let’s not forget, Wayne Rooney took his poor Academy year to an FA Youth Cup Final.

Yeah exactly. This is why I'm hoping someone migth have seen some individual performances that stood out amongst the "poor" results. A diamond in the rough if you will.

I was at the 21s game at Newcastle. The performance was decent had the better chances tbh. Penalty was soft enough as in my eyes the lad Diallo was already going down before The keeper and bought it. Ryan Astley, Romain Dixon , Eli Campbell, Metcalfe , Patterson and McCallister were the stronger performers in my eyes. Deserved something from the game.

Nice one. Do you get to many youth games?

Yeah, i can get on board with that, Rooney once in a generational talent!

A good example would be Steven Gerrard, didn't really achieve anything in terms of trophies at youth level (despite being known about for years), but came through at Liverpool as that golden boy, similar to Alexander Arnold!

….they did manage Gerrard’s game time for long periods during which he was going through growth spurts.
