Listen, the game plan has been OK but defensively from the set pieces we have been abysmal. I have Osman as co-commentator on the stream I am watching and he is spot on with saying Everton are defending the six yard box but that frees up the luton players when the corner is an out swinger. We haven't learnt. Myko was at fault for the second and as usual we cannot defend far posts. Hopefully we can get back into it but we have shot ourselves in the foot via bad defence
Same thing for the villa goal too wasn't it? Players all in a line clearing the ball straight to a villa player at the edge of the box.

At least we are winning the xg game 👀

There are some wild reactionary takes in this thread at present.

We were well on top in that half, simply our profligacy in front of goal costing us again. Defending for the set pieces was also poor.

However, look at the number of chances and indeed the quality of chances that we’ve created; Garner alone should’ve had a hattrick.

We fly out of the traps second half and play in the same way, whilst sorting out the marking from set pieces, then we come back to win this one.
Still very possible to win it.

There is a formula that works we now know. Whether Dyche makes the changes at half or not will be telling.
Gana - off for Harrison
Young - off for Patterson
Garner - central
Harrison - right
Myko is a vulnerability but only option would be Godfrey?

Keep the shape, change the players. If it doesn’t provide what’s needed, change the shape with next subs. Still have 3 available.
I think Myko comes off (planned) at some point because he had a knock and we change shape to Wednesday’s shape.

Dyche is such a negative minded coach. This game was crying out for us to take the initiative and play attacking/creative players, but once again he’s playing Doucoure, Gana and Onana in central midfield and another central midfielder on the right wing.

He’s bleated on all week about having players back and then sent out the same ineffective midfielders that couldn’t break down Fulham or Wolves at home.
