Favourite player in current squad?

I'm surprised this thread is not titled "Least fav player in the current side". With the stipulation that you can not choose Saha as it would be too obvious.

I would so much love to say Cahill, cause I really love that guy, but ffs if he isn't scoring he is very average. Pains me to say that out loud. Donovan could be a good choice, but can't rate him as the fav since he's only going to be here for a minute or 10. I am excited about Vellios, Drenthe, Straq, Coleman, Duffy, Rodwell, and Barkley (especially Barkley and Velli), but I can't say they are my favorite.

Felli pisses me off too often with his fouls. Jags is solid. Ossie has his moments. Howard has his moments (wrong kind). Neville and Hibbo are a black hole.

I'm gonna say Distin. Shrewd business in my opinion. Sell a left footed CB for 22M get an equally good player in Distin for 4m. He has enough pace and could kick the sh*t out of everyone if he so chose. I like him...rarely makes a mistake...and I repeat...he could kick the sh*t out of everyone...even though he's French.

Howard, Jags, Baines, Distin, Fellaini, Osman, Coleman, Rodwell, Drenthe (if we get him a contract) and all the youngings coming up like Vellios, Barkley and Gueye
I like our sqaud, sorry if i'm not as negative as some people would like.

Don't get me wrong, Baines is great and shoulders a role that no other fullback does in the PL. But Fellaini is better and despite Baines' role, plays a more vital position.
Baines is the only one world class player we have. He's one of the best left backs in the world and probably the best player seen at Everton since the 80s.

I think Baines plays a far more important role than Fellaini. All Fellaini seems to do is get it from the back 4 or a tackle before giving it to Baines who is the fulcrum of our entire attack. Fellaini's good defensively like, but his passing is abysmal at times and is nowhere near as good nor is he as important as Baines.

You just like his hair, don't you?

With the amount of people in here naming Distin (and the wonderful photo of him), amazing that he was ever named Dustbin. I thankfully missed that stage.

for pure effort and work rate Coleman, is probably there. He has pace which is great when attacking, but doesnt have the silky skills a right winger should have. Its a shame he doesnt have Osman's or Billy's ability with the ball at his feet.

For pure excitement it has to be drenthe now, along with Baines, he seems to be the only other player willing to run at the opposing team now Coleman is out, and seems to create a buzz of excitement amongst the fans.

The problem is we have a lot of players who would look good in better teams, i.e. Felliani, Rodwell - as shown with England, Jagielka, Johnny H (world cup finalist). Stick them in a Manchester team or Chelski/Arsenal/Spurs, the media would be shouting about how good these players are! But for us dont always seem to be up for the fight.

Tony Hibbert.

Every time he plays there is that niggling wonder if he might score. It's folklore like that which is keeping the spirit of the game alive ffs.

Plus he's actually a decent defender.

No seriously, he's not our most talented player, but he's probably my personal favourite. He possesses a talent that 99.9% of the league don't any more: tackling.

Totally with you on this one...
