Transfer Rumour Che Adams

I just did
Chermiti, we own him already
As for scouting round the world, that's what our illustrious scouting department are paid to do
So unless I name a player, then discuss potential deals with the other party I am in no way capable of knowing who we can get for 12mil
What I do know is other clubs can, so why are we still spending what little we have (PL terms) on either cast offs or crud?

Mate come off it.

We were half an hour/a wonder strike from relegation last season - A direct consequence of a team who couldn't score goals - our lowest ever goalscoring Prem season.

There's no way on gods earth we should be relying on a 19 year old kid, 4th choice from Sporting. I've heard from people (Podcasts) who watch Sporting commenting on the transfer and they're all bemused - the best they could do was compare him to a raw Calvert-Lewin but all said he's never ready to carry us right now. Within 3 games when people twig his first touch and control, the knives would be out.

Che Adams isn't ideal either, I get it - but he's better than having Gordon, Gray, or Maupay upfront as we did last season.

It's not good enough, but you said for £12/15m we should have someone better than Che Adams and I certainly can't think of anyone who ticks as many boxes as him for us.

I've given examples from Jan - Onuachu (£18.6m to Southampton) Ouattara (£20m to Bournemouth), Rutter (36m to Leeds) - in 41 league games there's 1 goal between them and that was Outtara who is a winger tbf. All were linked to us as possible option for upfront - it's not easy and if we signed anyone of them 3 right now as the alternative to Calvert-Lewin then we're goosed.

We need a guaranteed baseline IMO because it's another relegation scrap.

It's crap, but that's Everton right now.

Ain’t flashy, isn’t exotic, but will do the job Dyche requires of him in this side.
Also if we do end up selling Maupay, which I think we will now, then the fee we pay for Adams will really be nothing. There'll be like probably a £3m-£4m outlay on it, at the maximum, for a player that in an improvement.

Do I wish we were going after a higher calibre of player and fighting for Europe, of course, but this is the level that we are at now unfortunately.

Would rather blood Katia kouyate through than deal with this dross. It's absolute madness how we just keep signing lesser and lesser players and degrading the squad. Che Adams can swerve it

Cannon's a bit more of an unknown quantity but that's a very very bold claim
I’m basing it on their performance in the championship.

If he is better it’s not by much. Adams stats are crap and he is not the type of striker we need either, ie a target man.

On a positive note soon we will be able to field 11 players who have been relegated. That must be some sort of record. Yay.

You don't replace crap players with crap players to improve though, I honestly don't get this logic.

He's scored 25 goals in 4 seasons. He's a donkey

Those comparing him to Maupay, look at it this way, the chance Maupay put at Leno from 3 yards last week? Adams burys it. The chance Doucoure had when clean through? Adams burys it. That’s the difference, he’s not the first/second/third choice but if he gets a chance in the box he’s more likely to score than miss

Southampton’s problems were the same as ours last season, not enough support on the goal front

Should be time-stamped but fast forward to 1:50. Now think again if he'd bury those chances.

I think you might have contradicted yourself there.
We did scout and buy Chermiti, same as other clubs scouting Europe...

On a seperate note , wasn't Andy Gray a seasoned injury prone player, not sure his age when he arrived, the forums would have exploded with rage before he came here.
IMO decent signing if we get him , with good service he could well surprise a few of the doubters.
No it is not a contradiction
There are players out there for less than 12mil
Chermiti was more than that and worth playing instead of someone we know isn't very good

Maybe I'm just sick and tired of this premier league proven nonsense that our club seems obsessed with
We get the odd player from abroad
Look at the top teams in the PL, they aren't obsessed with this PL proven thing at all
The Premier League sells itself well, and this notion that football turns into something an already good player needs to prove himself in is ridiculous

Everton could learn a lot from Brighton.

When the club owner fully ignored the boos and the protests from their fans when they hardly created chances at home for half a season. When the owner of a club that had never been in top 10 instead of strengthening the first eleven, spent all the transfer funds on young prospects that was loaned out.

Players such as Caicedo and Mac Allister both waited 15 months from signing for Brighton to get their first league start.

Doing like Brighton is to not play Chermiti before you know he is ready. It can take 3 months, it can take 12 months or it can take 18 months. And that should not be a problem.

Both went on loan for a season.

We'd fume if that happened.

And Brighton are a model thats been in place for a years and very well run. We need a reset and years of development and stability to do what they do

But, but, his hold up play will bring all our goal scoring midfielders into play. Wait, no, hang on a minute.
Just in case anyone has missed the way we have settled into playing.
We have not needed a "hold up" player as most chances have been created through transition , carrying or passing the ball very quickly til the chance is created.
Tbh I never thought Dyche had it in him to play this way , maybe I done him a disservice.

There are chances aplenty being created and its not by using a hold up player , the only problem is the lack of a goalscorer .
It hasn't changed .

We had the second highest xG on Saturday after Newcastle
Chance creation has gone way up under Dyche
Calvert Lewin has either been injured or coming back from injury for almost 2 years
Yes, we had. Against what was most likely the worst opposition that will visit Goodison in the league this season.

Most teams are at 70-80% at the start of the season. We met a Fulham without their two best midfielders, a CD that has been injured all summer, a striker that is worse than Maupay and they are yet to replace the two wingers with pace they had last season.

It was one of these rare occasions where Everton were decent favorites to win.

Fulham were great last season, but they were never a possession team. They averaged just under 50% possession over the season.

Dyche set up Everton to defend in a low block and in long periods not press at all. At home. As favorites. Having 28% possession the first 20-25 minutes was according to the game plan. Ultra defensive. Sit back and counter. No ambition. No plan.

For comparison, Luton visited Brighton and started out with more possession on Amex than Everton had (as favorites) at Goodison.
