Maupay scored goals before he come here.
I think this is a decent take;
Playing for Southampton that is not bad.From 2019 to present for Southampton.
125 appearances, and a MASSIVE 27 goals.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Calvert Lewin may not be fit enough to lace his own boots.... that's the problem.No. As mentioned elsewhere, Adams runs around a bit and very occasionally gets on the end of a few bits and pieces. He doesn't have the quality of Dominic Calvert-Lewin in terms of football IQ, hold up and link up play - he isn't fit to lace his boots.
Brighton away is the classic example but the best example is probably the 3-0 loss to Man City at home. The opening 30 minutes of the game Calvert-Lewin was fantastic in terms of first touch, holding up the ball, winning free kicks - getting the team up the pitch etc. He gave the team structure and an actual game plan. To think Adams could replicate this is hilarious. Other than being best the part of half a foot shorter, in lazy terms it would be more accurate to compare Adams with Maupay but with a bit more pace. Maupay also runs around, causes a nuisance of himself, his one touch link up play is quite good but his finishing is woeful and he lacks the physical presence of Calvert-Lewin to be effective and respected on his own upfront by opposing teams' defences.
Iheanacho would have been a better signing as a stop gap. He would have made runs beyond a defence in turn stretching them getting the team up the pitch and he can see/pick a pass which would have been very useful in this team. His stats in terms of goals per game look pedestrian but he has largely been used as a sub behind Aguero and Vardy - two of the Premier League top strikers in the past 5-10 years. His minutes played to goal contributions ratio are very good/excellent. E.g., he had 10 assists over the past two seasons in the premier league compared with 6 assists from Adams playing far less game time in the process. When given a good run in the team and free of injury he scored 12 goals in 25 premier league games at Leicester so the quality is there. Perhaps the front office didn't go for him because of the African Nations but it's short sighted in my opinion.
And again there is no guarantee they will be the answer either . We have signed a young striker so maybe he's the answer.The pulling power only really applies to the Prem players.
Again ....there's a Whole World of strikers out there .
Try Asia , Africa , South America and the rest of Europe .
You can't convince me there's not better out there than the fodder we keep buying.
There's literally hundreds , young & old that would walk over hot coals for a Prem contract.
What are we paying these scouts for if we keep signing the likes of Che Adams.
Nah, we are trying to build a team to fit a Manager who has a certain style of play and who kept us up.Glad we're building a team to fit a system that was relegated twice.
Playing for Southampton that is not bad.
It isn't as if he had De Bruyne creating chances for him.
I think people are underwhelmed. I am sure that we'll get behind him if he comes in and does his best and gets a few goals.Ok, it might not be the most exciting signing and you can also question why it's taken so long to occur, but if he does join it does appear that we're finally targeting played that fit in a system.
Remember how Marcus Bent fitted for us?
If he does join, how about giving the guy a chance and supporting him in making it work. Hopefully he'd give attacks a focal point and the team as a whole will be better
I refuse to pander to this narrative everyone has of writing him off immediately.

Some of the players currently being signed are only seen as short term to help get us out of the relegation threat we are currently still in. Others are seen as long term investments that will require time and nurturing such as the young Portuguese lad.
He won't do any worse and it will probably be McNeill and Gnonto.He'll do much better being fed by Iwobi and Gana.
Maupay scored goals before he come here.
I think this is a decent take;
Indeed but unfortunately it is going to take some short termism along side careful long termism to get us out of it and back on track.Short termism is what got us into this problem in the first place.
He's making a list….all that finger muscle waste putting the lists together, what a shame![]()
He's about as decent as we have any right to expect...which means that this is another fabricated story pushed out there by the club stooges to pacify fans going into another PL fixture without a forward being bought.
It's incredible to me that after the last window and nearly all this window - where we've been linked with name after name but not bought a forward - there's people still falling for the club's latest hoax.
This is a bollocks story and it wont happen.
