Transfer Rumour Che Adams

Rubbish again from the club but we all knew it was coming.

£12m, or probably even more, for a guy who hardly scores, haven't we got one of those already?

Just bad all round from the club again, amateur hour. There'll be no Gnonto or other winger, just Che 'no goals' Adams.

I don’t think he’s as bad as all the crying on here suggests tbh, think he’ll do ok.

But then I did think Maupay would do ok as well.
He's about as decent as we have any right to expect...which means that this is another fabricated story pushed out there by the club stooges to pacify fans going into another PL fixture without a forward being bought.

It's incredible to me that after the last window and nearly all this window - where we've been linked with name after name but not bought a forward - there's people still falling for the club's latest hoax.

This is a bollocks story and it wont happen.

You’re just telling people here you haven’t spent any time watching Che Adams and are fully basing your opinion on him off of a football scores app.
No. As mentioned elsewhere, Adams runs around a bit and very occasionally gets on the end of a few bits and pieces. He doesn't have the quality of Dominic Calvert-Lewin in terms of football IQ, hold up and link up play - he isn't fit to lace his boots.

Brighton away is the classic example but the best example is probably the 3-0 loss to Man City at home. The opening 30 minutes of the game Calvert-Lewin was fantastic in terms of first touch, holding up the ball, winning free kicks - getting the team up the pitch etc. He gave the team structure and an actual game plan. To think Adams could replicate this is hilarious. Other than being best the part of half a foot shorter, in lazy terms it would be more accurate to compare Adams with Maupay but with a bit more pace. Maupay also runs around, causes a nuisance of himself, his one touch link up play is quite good but his finishing is woeful and he lacks the physical presence of Calvert-Lewin to be effective and respected on his own upfront by opposing teams' defences.

Iheanacho would have been a better signing as a stop gap. He would have made runs beyond a defence in turn stretching them getting the team up the pitch and he can see/pick a pass which would have been very useful in this team. His stats in terms of goals per game look pedestrian but he has largely been used as a sub behind Aguero and Vardy - two of the Premier League top strikers in the past 5-10 years. His minutes played to goal contributions ratio are very good/excellent. E.g., he had 10 assists over the past two seasons in the premier league compared with 6 assists from Adams playing far less game time in the process. When given a good run in the team and free of injury he scored 12 goals in 25 premier league games at Leicester so the quality is there. Perhaps the front office didn't go for him because of the African Nations but it's short sighted in my opinion.

We have got a very limited budget and given that I’m not sure what people expect to get for that. You are not going to get a 20 goal a season player that’s for sure.

£12m has just got us an unproven 19 year old from Portugal who has only scored 3 goals so with the market the way it is I think it’s not the worst deal given the circumstances we are in right now

It's not that relegated player's can't be good players, it's that we don't seem to look much further than them in recruitment. Let's have it right though, Che Adams isn't one of saint's better players. It's not like we're getting Roy Keane when forest went down or Pickford were we to go down. Its lazy recruitment at best, waste of money and a registration slot at worst
That's just not true though - sure we've signed some players from relegated sides but we also haven't. Let's take the last 3 sets of windows:

23/24 - Young, Danjuma, Chermiti (not relegated), Harrison (relegated)
22/23 - Onana, Maupay, Garner, Gueye, Coady, Vinagre (not relegated), Tarkowski, McNeil (relegated)
21/22 - Myko, Patterson, Gray, Dele, Rondon, Lonergan, Van De Beek, El-Ghazi, Begovic (not relegated)

It's such a lazy narrative to say we don't seem to look much further than relegated sides. But in any case, some of the players we've taken from relegated sides have become world class (or at least very very good: Pickford, Gueye to name a couple recent examples.

If it isn't Adams it will be someone like him.

This summer I think we just don't have the budget to sign a creative player for in excess of 20m and a striker for 30m plus.
That first line hits the nail on the head it might be more exciting at first to sign cezary adamski from fc twente but in the end they're likely to be the same level of player because thats the market we're shopping in. In January there were 4 strikers signed from Europe who were sort of in our budget and I think we were linked with all of them in fact but Paul Onuachu Matheus Cunha Georginio Rutter and Kevin Schade have scored 2 goals between them in 64 games since then so it shows how its not as simple as some people seem to think to just find a bargain striker in another country.

This got to be a wind up?

Might actually be able to ignore any misgivings if his middle name is Everton 🤣

We have been pathetic relegation fodder for three years now so it's no surprise that Adams might be the best we're able to attract with our awful recruitment team that doesn't appear to have the ability to look outside of the UK for new players.

Only Chermiti counts from them as one was a freebie and 2 loans(albeit good loans, better than last two seasons). Chermiti has more or less been ruled out of competing for first 11 for now too
So this season our recruitment has been lazy when it comes to where we spend our money, most links being with the three relegated sides
Regardless, Che Adams is not the answer, wasn't for Saints, isn't for us, and the fact we are circling him now as we are about to play our 2nd game is an absolute joke

Ché Zach Everton Fred West Adams

Just the 123 premier league games under his belt
Tautology this. The original Ernesto “Che”
Guevara - assuming that’s who he’s named after - was a mass murderer after all. In fact, I’d have to research it to work out who had more blood on their hands.

Everton have been murdering football for decades also, ofc.
