Transfer Rumour Che Adams

We have already signed a striker for the future in Chermiti but we also need someone for the here and now. Che Adams in not an exciting signing but is a practical one and at a price we can probably afford. At least we know what to expect... a solid but unspectacular premiership forward. I think if we had signed El Bilal Toure we would not then have signed Chermiti but either of those would need a settling in period and that is something we can't afford if DCL can't stay fit.
Che Adams and Neal Maupay are totally different players and Adams does add the physicality that Maupay doesn't. The signing of Adams probably will be paid for by the departure of Maupay and if that can happen that will be solid business.

In twelve months DCL will be moving into the last year of his contract and the next ten months will tell us if he has put his injury problems behind him or is now a player that has ongoing fitness issues. Either way there will be some form of new contract signed or he will be sold. By then we will also probably know if Tom Cannon has shown enough to be brought back to play for us. Chermiti should be ready by then to have an impact in the team as well.

As badly as we need a striker we need creativity and the pursuit of Gnonto recognises that, strikers can't score if chances are not created. I think the signing of someone who can create chances is every bit as important as someone to score them.

Che Adams, a signing that is solid, not surprising and in keeping with our lack of transfer budget this summer.

I think he'll be a good fit. I imagine the Brighton game last year is the model. Getting performing the same role that DCL played that day, occupying defenders and working the channels to make space for the attacking midfielders to burst forward.
As you say someone who can occupy (which Maupey can't do) would be a plus, what DCL has along with size is an incredible level of athleticism, but the fact of the matter is we aren't buying another DCL with our budget and there are not actually that many around. WE looked to develop a couple for the future and tried to bridge the gap for the present, albeit possibly with someone who is a long way down on the list of targets.

We clearly still want to have Dom as the main striker. That seems evident.

Both of those would've cost £25-30mill. Additionally you can't guarantee they're going to settle in the premiership and deliver this expectation of 10-15 goals a season.

Then factor in how these deals are structured. If a club agrees to let us buy Chermitti for £20mill structured...but another club selling Moffi don't want to do the same..we can't do much.

@Eggs took an interest in "moffi the toffee" when we were linked last summer -- also to El Bilal Toure.

As you can see from the link, he went on loan with an obligation this season.

So we'd have had him last season (instead of Maupay) and be paying for him this season (instead of Maupay + Adams).

Add the €8mil ish for El Bilal (who can also play right wing) and we'd be set.

….I think we have to accept that we are now generally disliked. It’s the club we’ve turned into.

RAWK have an ‘Everton - The Unflushables’ thread and I’ve seen that expression widely used.
We are disliked I think. There is a general feeling that if we do go down, we'll deserve it and have had it coming.

Not half as unflushable as that lot though, they are the ultimate turd.

You're just making things up again?

…..genuinely hope he turns out to be the real deal, his future will tell us lots about Thelwell.

The fact we’ve gone for Adams is a reflection the Manager won’t be using Chermiti. Of all the strikers in the world, surely there’s better out there for £15m than Che Adams.

I think you’re well aware by now the manager highly prioritises PL experience.

Southampton had generally a bad season last season which shouldn't be forgotten. And they never have really prolific strikers. I think if we get him in good positions he can improve his goal tally. And it's clear Dyche is trying to create a high-energy pressing and counter-attacking unit and he fits that well. He gets a lot of tackles and interceptions in high up the pitch which can hopefully be beneficial to the likes of Danjuma, Harrison, McNeil etc
