Exactly. There's no point kidding ourselves that a kid who is an Italy regular at 19 would intend to spend the next 5+ years at Everton. Quite frankly he shouldn't. Just like Onana he'll want, and should want, to go to the very top.
up the stepping stone toffees!

find them young, sign them, develop them, sell them! would help with the FFP massively also

For the money involved and in our financial position, we would be well advised to take him on loan and leave ourselves with something in the pot for another player. If he works out and Leeds doon't get promotion, we may well be able to make the move permanent in the summer, if not, we'll have had a season out of him and can look for a similar player in the summer when we may well be in a stronger financial position.

This year is, I'm afraid, all about getting a team together that can stay out of the relegation fight
I have some bad news. We have been saying that for the last 5 years.

Loan the striker if we have to...gnonto on loan means zero chance of getting him next summer as he is obviously a good player that other teams will pay for. With young and danjuma we have already 2 short deals, we don't need another one.
If Leeds will only loan him what then, would you just decline to take him on loan, or, would it make more sense to have his pace available to us this season ? Who knows what 12 months may bring? We may well be in a better financial position, due to investment or a take over, Leeds may well fail to get promoted, in a which case, if Gnonto is happy here, we would be in prime position to sign him permanently.

Anyone over a certain age hates Leeds.

Vile horrible club.

….mmm, they were our main rivals in the late 60s early 70s, to be fair we were the top sides in the country at that stage. Games against them were often more like wars than football matches. Not sure I mentioned, but I did score 2 screamers at Elland Rd in 1971 so I have mixed feelings for the place :bye:.

Weirdly, in January I was in a Canary Island bar and got talking to a Leeds fan. I said how much I liked Gnonto and he said he was convinced Everton would get relegated. I thought about that bloke on the last day of the season & I imagine he thought of me. He’ll think of me again if we sign Gnonto.
