In a democracy, yeah. The big issue is how it is moderated mate. We havnt quite worked out how to do it properly/fairly. Or if at all.
IMO - and as I said already - this forum is plenty big enough in scope for subjects tackled in the CA. 🤷‍♂️

In theory, I dont disagree. But that 80% majority? Less than 250 folk voted. We will work sommet out, cos it was popular and also useful at times. My personal opinion is that if we do more actively moderate it, and shut down on some of the personal abuse and unsourced (bot/spam) posts, we might have a chance.

Most subjects were well discussed, it was only a few that attracted the poison recently. So that is sommet else to consider. But again, who am I to decide if a subject is taboo, or to ban someone cos I disagree with them?

That's the nature of the moderators role, I suppose. There's no magic formula / complete objectivity. I wouldn't know, but I think it calls for an approach that allows others a long leash but if that's abused a spell in the dog house is necessary.

The CA fourm is especially difficult to manage.

The experience of the old bluekipper forum is a cautionary tale on how things get completely out of hand to the detriment of everyone.

I was never on BK but I have seen its demise referenced many times on here. Pretty sure Dan wouldnt let this place go that way.

Should be admittance by application only. Or when you have made a certain number of posts on here without cause for concern then the CA forum becomes accessible to you.

Not a bad idea, but in the world of social media/bots/activists, it isnt as straight forward as that I am afraid. I mean, if you think that the online world heavily influenced a US election and Brexit, most likely other stuff, what chance do we have?

Yeah I suppose so .. urrrmmm … keep chico banned then… that’s all I’ve got 🤷‍♂️

If going back the the CA forum removes holidays poisonous opinion as much as possible from the internet, that is a service to humanity in itself.

De-banked. Lol.

I'll give it to him, he knows how to whip up a storm and create an issue out of nothing. Mostly for his own benefit.

Narrator: “It did not interest him”

Imagine siding with Big Corporate Bank over a persecuted individual...

And then crying "poisonous" at those who err the other way. That's how fascism (real actual fascism) gets a hold: convincing the people to side with the machine over the people.
