An Open Letter to Robert Elstone

An open letter? What does that even mean? Everything you put on a public message board is an open letter. Because it's openly on a public message board! The ego of you guys to think something so primitive would be taken seriously. This is not the time for impassioned pleas from the supporter of limited intelligence. It's a game of chess. Tubey is several levels of debate below Eltsone and his cohorts, or even a number of other sites with more depth. It's so simplistic that even Kermit thinks it's worth flagging up. If you're not part of the answer, you're part of the problem.

Oh dear. Your not worth the attention.

Back to the OP - it's had the best reaction to any fan article I've ever seen published on an Everton website.

get over yourself fella. Blert.

I went to cook then basically went to bed after writing this, so to wake up today and see the reaction is surprising!

But thanks to one and all. NubiBlue, I took Vellios and Gueye on board but I do think they were signed as future prospects rather than first team squad players so I didn't class that as investment; however, I can see the viewpoint that they were, so it's a objectionable point.

And GWS... Too blatant an attempt at popcorning, you need work, I'll give it a C- for effort.

The piece wasn't meant to "bring down the board", it was just a response to what I felt was a surprisingly worded blog from our Chief Executive and something I felt I needed to write, whether it's read by the target audience or not. I believe there's far too much aggression from both the board and Everton fans and the animosity has to give way to reasoned dialogue at some stage for our club to move forward as a unit.

Again, cheers guys and girls!

I read your letter last night mate and it is fantastic, although weirdly just before I read it me and my arl fella were talking about Elstones blog and I said I really feel like writing him an email and asking why the club are further creating this us and them attitude. Its one thing The Blue Union doing so, but the club should maintain and more neutral stance and the sly dig at falling attendances was disgusting. It seemed like Elstone attempted to to shift some of the blame on the fans who have spoken out and therefore trying to create a further rift between the fans. It would surely be much better if the club attempted to bring everyone together, similar to the season we finished fourth when it became a Everton v the world type attitude.

Magaye Gueye was'nt signed as a first teamer

What the hell does that mean? He paid £1m to stick him in the reserves then?

You do realise that football is a squad game nowadays, don't you?

You also realise that he was injured for a time which restricted when and where he would be able to play, but if you guys really want to split hair to such an extent to make a point then go knock yourselves out.

Whilst at his favoured Castleford Tigers, he oversaw the club's preparatory work towards the relocation to a new stadium.[SUP][2][/SUP]
He resigned from is position in January 2007 citing family reasons: I have been very conscious of the declining commitment I have been able to give to the Club over the past 12 months. The combination of a demanding job, a young family and the simple fact of where I live means that I cannot fulfil my duties to the level they demand. As a lifelong fan, I have felt incredibly privileged to serve the Club in such an important capacity over the past few years. However, I have to say, after a long time away, I'm really looking forward to going back into the Wheldon Road End and becoming a proper fan again.

They never got a new ground btw, did he ever move house ? as he couldn't make it to Cas as much as needed, does he give us (not his boyhood team) the attention required ?

It's just saying that neither Vellios or Gueye were bought with the intention of being used immediately, so they weren't signings that were planned to have an impact on the season they were bought.

Whilst Gibson is. It's not really splitting hairs - if we would have bought that Rory Donnelly it'd be the same thing.

It's the old "one for the future" kind of signing versus the "they'll be straight in the team against Villa" kind of signing.

I really liked the Elstone blog, any more details and he'll be telling us how many bog rolls they purchased. Having been in the same situation in the past he feels under siege. My advice to him is if he wants to claim the moral high ground he really needs to move away from these type of petty sleights. Its beneath him and Everton and draws some closer to the bunion.

But on the substantive point, I'm not sure what more information he can give about the accounts.

Tubey's open letter though is first class and articulates real concerns of fans.

What a first class one you are, what's level's of intelligence or level's of debate got to do with anything??, so you can watch your team home and away for 20 years and be concerned for our future but you never went on to uni for Business management your a problem, go and play on the motorway lad

Completely agree mate

Mr Elstone, thank you for giving us a net spend of 35million since 2006, on my maths, that means we can sign a duff newcastle striker once every 5 years!!

What's the latin for 40 points is good enough? Quadraginta puncta satis?

Tubes.

Moyes picks the team, and chooses the players.

Not Robert Elstone.

Not Robert Elstone.

I'm not saying he does, or is responsible for performances in any way. I'm addressing the reasons fans are not crowding into Goodison, rather than his reasoning that it's due to sabotage.

Ah. Cutting. If you don't want people to react to what you've written, don't put it on a public forum. And as regards ITK, there's a world of difference between knowing someone with a tiny bit of inside info, and actually understanding football.
you got problems you lad ,ive forgot more about everton than you will ever know , because ive lost faith in moyes i dont understand football half this site doesnt then ,plus my tiny little bit of inside info is a hell of a lot more than yours init.no big egos just passing info on to a lot of boss lads on here .
