I’m pretty sure the sacking doesn’t relate to that news story. But assuming it isn’t to sack him hours after that news story and leave it open to that inference is snide behaviour from Bournemouth.

I can see a certain logic in Bournemouth's decision.
They are concerned about second season syndrome, and O'Neill had a free pass last season.
It depends if they have already identified someone they think can do a better job, and if that person is available and willing.
It's risky though, but bold it if works.
Now is the time to do it, rather than in October when you're bottom.
Soton did it with Nigel Adkins, when they brought Pochettino in. Adkins was perceived to be doing ok at the time. That worked well for them until he was poached.
