Branthwaite is unknown at premier league level...let's stop gambling the future of this club when there isn't a need to

This is a huge assumption that Dyche thinks a 20 year old is ready for 38 games in the premiership. And he's not gonna know this until pre-season.

If Branthwaite was a PSV owned player and we signed him for £30mil most of us would be thrilled.

Its even better that we own him after seeing him at PSV and the incredibly positive reports.

He and Onana in the spine and finally 2 u21 6'4/5 sized top quality players to hold onto long term.

Conversation probably went something like this:

Coady ‘I want to play first team football every week as I’m coming into the last few years of my career and I’ve always played every game every week, these last few months at Everton not playing have been the lowest point of my career, can you offer me that?

Dyche: No.

Coady: Sound

Will be at West Ham or Brentford. Unless Wolves think he can slot back in. IMO

Think this decision is more about money than anything else.

We don’t have the £4.5m!
I don't think not signing Coady for 4.5m tells us anything about our budget. It certainly doesn't necessarily follow that we didn't have the money. It could just as easily imply we have more money to spend on a better player. If our budget was super tight I think we'd almost be more inclined to get Coady for just 4.5m rather than look around for other options.

Heads falling off all over the place....its like we have just passed on a Labone re-gen.

I guess the problem is that we're going to find it hard to attract that many decent players (nevermind any actually good ones)

Not sure I'd sign up for Relegation Battle Part III when I could play in Europe with Villa for example

Long term of course. Coming in and being 1st choice in our basket case of a club...no.

Onana for example didn't even play every game here and was also slated by a lot fans in games. The same would happen to Branthwaite.

In a normal well ran club, he'd still be 3rd choice behind 2 established CBs. He's still got to get passed "The Dyche Test".

Unless we're looking to blood youth (Dyche isn't known for that the past), I don't think it's on the radar and I don't think it's an environment to let him flourish.

Never know...we could be selling Branthwaite to raise funds.

I think some will speculate that we’ll be getting defensive reinforcements in. Others will see this as a pathway to the starting lineup for Branthwaite.

But the smart ones know this means Michael Keane will be our starting CB when the new season kicks off.

….but if that was the case, why would he pick Coady on Sunday ahead of Keane in the most important match in the club’s history in years? It just doesn’t add up to me.
