Summer transfer window 2023

I think we need to move Onana on and use the cash to buy in a number 10. Doucoure and Gueye will be ok as a CM duo for next season.

If Garner can save us cash out on the right that'd be an enormous step forward.
I agree about Onana as he’s probably the one player we’ve got who could generate a huge transfer fee.
I think Garner has the potential to knit the whole team together- he’s so much more composed on the ball than anyone else we have in centre midfield. Someone who can confidently receive the ball from the defence and pick a pass to open up the pitch is something we haven’t had since Arteta really.

RB - Lutsharel Geertruida
LB - Borna Sosa

Winger - Nicolas Jackson
Patrick Wimmer

Striker - Moussa Dembele on a free.
Viktor Gyokeres

The mantra of this summer should be ‘what would the Brighton board do? They always get it right.’
We need to be looking at young players who work hard and see Everton as a chance to prove themselves and make a step up, knowing if they play well they can potentially move on to a champions league club in a couple of years, generating a big profit in the process. Win-win for us. No more of signing failed players from top 6 clubs who see us as a step down but an easy pay day.

Some posters keep mentioning about an imminent transfer ban impeding signings this window.

This is impossible and peter pan levels of weird.

If it happens it would be months away. We would also be able to appeal which would kick can further away.

Theres no chance we will be banned this window (if at all).

But we need to make sure we make all the signings / sales this summer so we dont need any in Jan.

One game on the right and he was unquestionably our best player there. I'd be tempted to see what he's like that side in pre-season.

I'd hope we would take a look at our recent transfer history and note that we only have successful transfers when we buy players who want to use this opportunity to better themselves and earn the chance to sign for a "bigger" club. That means young enough and good enough, like Onana, Garner, Richy, Stones, Rom, Pickford, Coleman, Arteta, Pienaar etc.

The failures - especially in midfield or attack - are more often than not those who sign knowing that we are the biggest club they will ever play for (because of age and price paid) or that this is the highest level they can reach now, with Maupay being the most recent example and Iceland the most notorious (but also loads of others too numerous to name here).

For that reason I think we have to avoid players over 26, especially if they would require big fees and/or big wages. I'd also avoid the PL and the relegated sides - focus (in terms of permanent signings) on the championship and below, or abroad.

honestly banning us from making any signings in January would be a good thing, our record is terrible

look at this January - we got better for not signing anyone, and all the players we were linked with (and who binned us off for other PL teams) turned out to be crap

2 forwards
Full back
Centre half
Midfielder (assuming Onana sold)

Forwards is a tricky one if DCL stays - they aren't going to start if he is fit (since I doubt we could afford anyone who is obviously better than him) but if he isn't they have to be better than Simms will be. If Juve do welch out of the Kean deal then I really think we should just keep Moise around and spend what little money we have elsewhere (fullback certainly).

LB: Parisi or Truffert
RB: Walker Peters or Justin
CB: Salisu or Kotchap or Lacroix (Wolfsburg) + Coady

CM/CAM: Le Fee (Lorient) or Fofana (Monaco) or Elmas (Napoli) or Caquret (Lyon). Midfield is the least important imo.

RW: Bakayoko or Chukwueze or Nordin
ST: Balogun or Gyokeres or Wahi or Jackson. Could include Simms in a deal for gyokeres.
