I wanted to just be angry about this result - of course I am - I wanted to blame Moyes selections too. Then I thought about it. For an hour we largely controlled this game 100% - Bolton were more or less nowhere in this game. Then Moyes was forced to play his final card with the injury to Rodwell. He'd already lost Osman which was a major loss - it was at this point that Bolton got into it. The problem was Strac was running around doing the next-to-nothing but bothering their centre-halves but he tired. Then Saha disappeared (expected), then Neville was doing nothing (expected)....plus Gueye was going nowhere, doing nothing. I'm pretty sure the ideal choices on another night with that starting XI would have been to take the front two off & bring on Victor, Cahill & Rodwell (probably for Neville as well) & not to lose Jags in the process. So, I'm totally with the OP on that.

We still failed to make the keeper make a save before the injuries though....

Can someone, anyone tell me why Howard didnt catch that cross at the second goal?

And can anyone tell me why Saha was back to deflect the ball to Ngog.

Probably more individual mistakes.

Is it me or do we have terrible players?!

Agree the lot, especially the bold stuff.

Fair play Tubey.

I said to my mate on the way Home, bar not playing Barkley, there wasnt much else Moyes could have done tonight.

Saha is a horrible specimen and the sooner he leaves the better.

Hibbert, Neville, Saha, Stracq, Cahill, Bily, Gueye aren't good enough. Absolutely disgusted today, watching those goals again makes me realise how bad that defending actually is. I will blame Moyes. Why play Heitinga and Neville centre midfield. Someone please tell me why Barkley isn't playing. When the management at the top is shambolic it's reflected throughout the squad. £34 for that. Disgusted. Absolutely disgusted.

The wind was a pain all night, their keeper spilled it plenty and of course the OG. Howard had been troubled with the ball swirling a couple of times before too. I thought it was a solid punch, it was people not picking up their men (because of the subs and a pass the buck syndrome) that allowed Cahill through at a waltz.

I think Keepers are heavily influenced to punch in those cases nowadays

No idea

Maybe

Some are very bad, however we have zero money

I was never alive in the 80s mate, but I want Everton to strive for greatness just like that. It could be worse but it's not good enough.

I'm 23 mate, I'm not old enough to remember the 80s, greatness for me was the '95 FA Cup win - its just how it is. Its not going to happen overnight, and tbh we've been priced out of challenging for top 4/6 finishes right now.

BTW on Bolton & Dowd
Mark Davies was very impressive
Gary Cahill should have got a straight red for the foul on Gueye - it was an attempt at a leg breaker when all he had to do was knock him over really. From the free kick either Tim or the keeper committed a foul (penalty or free-kick) - from my position it looked a penalty but the ref & his assistant copped out. Just decent/average/good players playing badly... :(

This.

Wait till midnight and find a mirror in a dark room, say 'suits' three times, and if my name turns up it's true. Or you can get on the wagon with the abuse crew. Better than being called names on an internet forum isn't it.

Serioulsy, not being funny or having a go or anything, just saw someone say something in another thread, and it would be news to me if true...

If I'm splitting hairs, for their second N'Gog should have been flagged as Howard punched it, because he was 5 yards off when the flick on header was played and he challenged Tim for the ball.

In fact no, that's not splitting hairs. It's a legitimate law of the game. But when have the referees ever applied the laws correctly?

Good post Tubes, repped accordingly.

Today was a freak game, wind played it's part big-time I could really hear it howling on the roof ceiling at the ground, I don't think we'll ever play that badly again this season, Donovan wasn't getting involved second half and we just went massively downhill once Osman and Rodwell were forced to leave the pitch. The players on the pitch should of done MUCH MUCH better mind, but i'm sure Moyes has given them the mother of all post-match bollockings. Saha should never pull on the Royal blue shirt again he played a huge part in us not being able to build a meaningful attack, Stracqualirsi was not much better.

To be fair, we could say the goal was down to a mistake, however, our goal was scored from our own 6 yard box. So I don't think we should complain too much about their goal!
