Sir Landon Of Donovan

LD to get injured first 15 mins of play, out for 6 months, Cahill to replace LD.

Dude. Go and throw some salt over your shoulder and reverse the curse. Wait, I'll do it for you. For Everton, Galaxy and USMNT fans.

LALALALALA. Now back to our normal programming.

Will he play against West Brom?

Everything I've read on MLS.com has said his first game is against Bolton, and an ITK on another forum also said the Bolton game.

But I don't know if that means he can't be a sub for the West Brom game?

But so far everything published on this side of the ocean says 1st game is Bolton. Everyone is assuming he'll start.

SO LD to start For Cahill or on the Right? Will he Start? Lets discuss.

For only 8 weeks, he's starting.

I hope to God Moyes doesn't use this as an excuse to sit Drenthe by putting LD in his spot. The MORE attacking threats on the pitch, the better.

Drenthe has looked good on the right. Assuming we don't get Pienaar, I'm willing to leave Gueye in:

Drenthe - Rodwell (when fit) - Fellaini - Gueye
LD
Saha

Rodwell not fit, put Osman there. Need more muscle, put Heitinga there.

To the Bench: Cahill, Neville, Osman

I'm a little divided moving Osman to the bench as he has had some spark, but he is NOT a winger as we all know, and I'd rather have some attacking threat on the wings. BUT, since he has had an average to good run:

Another option:
Drenthe - Rodwell - Fellaini - LD [with LD/Drenthe interchanging]
Osman
Saha

My only challenge here is that finishing may still be a problem.

But I'm willing to take a look at these formations. Neville and Cahill need to be benched.

The basic call to me is this: Do you want LD finishing in the box? Or do you want him supplying out on the wing? Our problem right now is in the box, so I'm thinking having him in the center is better. But that requires another winger to pair with Drenthe. The other reason the center is good to me right now is countering/quick through balls out of the back. We have zero threat coming quickly out of the back right now, and LD might be wasted on the wings for that. I want him and Drenthe close together - not on opposite sides of the pitch. Their speed of play together/pace means I'd love to see them partnering opposed to long ball passing/crosses.

Dammit. This is the same stupid problem we have with Clint Dempsey and LD on the national team. Center, or wide? No easy answer.

Has to start. Drenthe on Right, LD for Cahill... that means no hoofball though.

I cannot underscore this enough. Other than Fellaini, we will have midgets and no target striker (I'm assuming Vellios/Straq have a snowballs chance in hell of starting). Keep the ball on the ground, and play a passing game.

Send a memo to Jags to make sure he understands this.

I've had a bad thought...

We are a very different Everton to when he came last time. In that mainly we are sh*tter.

What if he doesn't like it?

Doesn't matter. He's here for 2 months. Lando is not a whiner, he will come here to do a job and do it to the best of his ability. I also think he plays better when he's angry.

Howard
Hibbert-Jagielka-Heitinga-Baines
Fellaini-Rodwell
Drenthe-Osman-Donovan
Saha/AN Other

Looks better already.

I think we actually had about the same number of points in more games when he came here the first time around.
