I’ve done a super conservative prediction for the remaining fixtures and it sees us getting to 36 points

Wins v Leeds, Brentford, Fulham, Bournemouth at home

Draws v Villa (h), Forest (a), Spurs (h), Palace (a), Newcastle (h), Wolves (a)

Losses v Liverpool (a), Arsenal (a) Chelsea (a), United (a) Leicester (a) Brighton (a) City (h)

That takes us to 36. If we get above this tally I think we stay in the league. Below it it’s highly doubtful.

Would be great to get a point or three against the predictor by getting something from Anfield.

Still tracking against my prediction for staying up. I think we only need to improve on one result to get 37 points and hopefully that will be enough to do it. Villa would be a great game for getting ahead of the curve.

We also have idiots in charge of our clubs, you mustn’t disregard that as a factor.
Don’t get confused…there are idiots running American sports teams as well. The key difference is that the franchise model of American sports leagues essentially guarantees that lack of success on the field can’t really destroy the entire organization, even over a sustained period. In fact, the only thing the system doesn’t reward is mediocrity. Obviously winning comes with its rewards, but complete failure is a reward in it’s own right, as it gives teams the best opportunity to improve.

I can’t think of a single modern example of an American sports franchise having to be liquidated the way some English clubs have.

Thing with teams like with moyes is not much of a choice who to bring in and a short time to work with the squad . If west ham did let moyes go would not surprise me see he other teams go for him. Really is a mess at the bottom this year

When you look at their squad they’ve got ideal personnel for a really solid Dyche team. He’d have them grinding up the table no problem.

Their worst result of the season might be beating us- if we’d won that we’d still be limping along with Lampard and they’d have binned Moyes and, if they’d been sensible, got Dyche in themselves.

Was boxing day for me but i was still wrong others before trhe break got it spot on
I think the hope was that we wouldn't have to change the manager again, no matter 'the when' of it. The club needed and needs stability. Frankly Dyche may not be everyone's cup of tea(including mine) but right now we need to stick with a managet for more than a season or two.
Results dont lie over a period of time its true, but this win the next one or elsse mentality is flawed in every possible way.

That’s the beauty of it. American sports will throw their season away to get a high draft pick. All games are important in the EPL

That's honestly part of why I started watching the PL. I'm a pretty huge Orioles and Commanders fan and tanking is an insult to your most ardent fans. Both of those franchises deserve to be in the MLB/NFL equivalents of the Championship. But there's no incentive to be competitive, so the Angelos family just pockets their TV money, and Snyder would've been forced to sell years ago because of his mismanagement.

As distressing as last year and this year's relegation battles are, it's magnitudes better than what being an Os/Commanders fan is.

With hindsight every decision becomes easy, of course looking back now we should have as we got bugger all points afterwards. Truth be told before the break was way too soon and if you start firing managers for the position we were back then you may as well call us Watford and be done with it. That too has it's own repercussions down the line, you have to be seen to give people a chance to turn it around else you are going to be picking from an ever dwindling pool of talent as you chop and change.

We had a really bad final week before the WC break but think it would’ve been harsh to sack Lampard then- prior to that week we’d been picking up points at a reasonable rate and showing signs of improvement over last season. With a pretty big turnover of players in the summer I thought we’d really benefit from a second pre season under Lampard and kick on after.

It was pretty much immediately obvious after the break we’d come out of it worse which was unforgivable when a manager’s had plenty of time to knit together his ideas- imo after Brighton was the time to go.
