No player is going to sign a long-term deal at a club that is probably going to be playing in the Championship next season.
Players sign for relegation threatened clubs every winter. Outarra is signing for Bournemouth who are as relegation threatened as us because he obviously thinks it's a good step in his career to come to England, both in terms of wages and as a step to another bigger club. Weghorst signed for Burnley last January when they were in trouble and ultimately went down, and it's done his career no harm.

Coming to England, even if it is the lower end of the PL, is extremely attractive to most players.

I love how Lampard said right after the World Cup that we had targets identified and then went total crap with our play so bad that we lost all our targets. Just amazing work all around. Glad they got their holiday in Australia tho!
he said similiar in May. he said he identified the areas that needed improving. most of us would have thought a ball playing midfielder who passes forward and a dcl like center forward and pace out wide. he brought in the exact opposite in mcneil and maupay and the telling part of that is he did not trust them to bring them on when down against saints. says it all.
