Who should replace Frank Lampard?

But it was to do with Rafael being a red wasn’t it?

I don’t think people quite understand as yet how such a thing can permeate a whole organisation’s culture

Confidence is so important in football

The decline was pretty extreme and unusual
Benitez was sacked because he was a terrible manager in 2021 and about 10 years past his prime who could only do a job with money to spend anyway.

The fact he was one of the worst reds only sped up the process.

A two sided thing I’d say - played a big part in creating the toxic culture that drove out Benitez (as they didn’t like that he’d been a red), which fed through to the on pitch mentality. Lampard then had the job of trying to restore confidence in a team whose confidence was shot

Fans got behind Frank then as a welcome contrast to Benitez and actually then provided some very welcome support in the must win games towards the end of the season

That showed the power of positivity - much more of which will help the team
These are human beings we are talking about here, not robots.

You cant just turn up the positivity. It's real people showing real human emotions.

Ya. Sacking the fans will happen all right.
Do they get 2 written warnings first ?
You absolute loon
I doubt the fans will be sacked but I’m likely right about the lack of resilience, short termism etc impacting the quality of the culture

You’re providing a great case study to highlight the issue - people can get so close that they lack the perspective to see that they themselves are a key part of the problem - helping to bring down the very thing they think they’re trying to support - in this case watching other men running round a field kicking a ball and getting very serious about it :D

I'm not convinced it's a lack of hard work or effort.

I just think we have far too many players who are not good enough, or who may be good enough generally but all have the same flaws (an inability to attack, use the ball correctly etc). You can get away with one or two like that who offer other things for the team but all our players seem to struggle with the same issues.
The key action required I believe is bringing in a couple of decent attacking players

The rest of the starting lineup is not bad and defence / midfield were well strengthened in the summer, albeit the squad is quite thin

Only in the sense that the thousands of people sitting around the field have little pressure on them and seem to feel that, having paid to get in, that then gives them the right to criticise in whatever way the ones running around on the field, who are under a great deal of pressure / scrutiny, whilst at the same time claiming an interest in the success of those on the pitch, but when it comes to it doing little to assist them, when the chips are down in particular - the room for improvement is massive

You can play a part in leading it…

Stop drinking. Go to bed.
Anyone who puts the word legend in front of Barry Horne is obviously a little nuts
