Who should replace Frank Lampard?

They can't move up the pitch because of the defenders, at least in part. Tarkowski and Coady don't go with them.
Is that due to their limitations or Frank's directives? Also that shouldn't be the defense's mission there should be a proper midfield conduit to perform that task and although I thought he has been exceptional the first stretch of games iwobi has been absent lately as the onus is on him since gana is incapable of providing that role

We dont need them to move high up the pitch if we would swallow our ego, know our place, play to our strengths and go direct from back to front.
Can we even play direct football with our current attacking players? Especially maupay as striker .We don't have any consistency with the type of footballers we have on the pitch such a mishmash of playing styles

Possibly not but it wouldn't be any worse than whatever Lampard is trying at the minute

We could surely find a serviceable target man who could hold the ball and occupy defenders. If the money isn't there for top quality then we need to be pragmatic and sign ideally 2 target men for a long ball system

The signing of Maupay was utterly brainless when the rest of our squad was built for Calvert-Lewin. Whoever signed off on signing him deserved an immediate p45.

I agree completely I think Frank should be sacked alone for the fact he continues to deploy maupay like hes a Similar player to dcl and just bang crosses to a 5'8 player who isnt a target man but can excel with the ball on the ground. It's like frank just decided at the beginning of the season he was going to operate only one way attacking wise assuming dcl was going to be fit and is just unwilling to deviate from the strategy despite not having that type of player available. Also if you do sign maupay you ccreate an environment where he be better suited to play to his strengths. Even a front two of him and gray would be better than what we're doing now

That would require a real manager still, and no not Sean Dyche.

Like this is the bones of how Conte wants to play, but it also isn't hoofball or sitting deep and letting teams bombard your keeper and getting there requires really good management.

It's both.

Coady and tarkowski have both shown they can play on the ball wit some nicely placed long balls earlier this season but they seem to be discouraged from doing that. I know you loathe tarks but coady too?
I don't really like either of them. I just don't believe in the Tarkowski style of defending. My feeling is you're blocking shots because you're not closing down the space proactively and while it's good that he's an elite reactive defender the other part being basically absent is bad. Coady is slow and that just limits you so much. They're both PL players and so you can work with it but I really think we're going to regress with how much we concede as we go forward.

Chelsea won the champions league with thiago silva, speed isn't everything anyway we're straying from the thread topic who would you want manager wise that could work with this flawed set of players and make them perform adequately?

KnutsIN.

Honestly I think we need to take a risk on a longer term manager who can build this up. And I'd say even at risk of relegation now. We're probably going down that path anyway so why not do it with a chance of building stability before it happens? Knutsen is one interesting option but I'm sure there are plenty of others.

I don't know that ultimately we have decision makers at the higher level of the club to make it matter.

Sweet Jehova of Bethlehem!!!! Imagine wanting to punt our best center back into the sun. In what universe does Keane/Mina/Hogate/Godfrey get on the teamsheet before Jimmy T.
It's not about them being better, it's about not bringing in a Coady Tarkowski partnership. Or signing someone like Godfrey going back a bit further.

But we can only work with what we've got. Jimbo Tarks on a free was a good bit of business and Coady has been every bit as solid and professional as you'd expect. They are our best CB partnership, no question. We're hardly great, but I shudder to think what things would look like if we'd gotten almost half way through the season with Championship Keane and Columbian Lurch at the back.

I just feel like continual use of stop gaps takes you bad places.
