I get that point of view, I honestly do. It's just that the performances that stand out in the mind over time are those where the tempo of the game seems to go up a notch every time they get played the ball.

To me Messi in this tournament is like Diego in 1990 - well below the peak of his powers but good and sly enough to drag his team through each test
