I've heard a combination of the two. Cole lashed one at Gordon, but starboy did his special move, letting it go past him and then spun to chase after it, before smashing it back at Cole and missing. Hitting Mina, who's now injured for 6 months.

In the mayhem, Keane tried to get back and collided with Holgate.

EVVVVVVERTON! WE'VE NEVER SHONE SO BRIGHTLY!
Gordon then got booked for his petulance, VAR ruled no attack on Cole, penalty to Liverpool. ?

So Gordon has fronted Ashley Cole, Holgate and Mina being the upstanding citizens they are have stepped in and left one on Starboy? Great drama, football needs more of this.

Genuine question: In your opinion, when was his "really good spell"?
As a young lad last season when we were shockingly bad Gordon was the one player showed fight and leadership.
At a more successful club he could be managed differently. He could be taken out of the team at times, there would not be the same level of dependence on him.
The recent specuation about making the England squad just heaps on even more pressure.
Newcastle, Chelsea and Spurs all seem to think as well that he did well.
I think he will benefit hugely from the World cup break.

I don’t disagree that he showed fight and tried to lead the team forward, but I think too many conflate that with good form. His return of goals/assists/chances created wasn’t great and to my mind he showed flashes of good form but was otherwise pretty technically poor.

I point that out only because I think those same people who swear what they saw was good form, then confuse what they’re seeing now with a drop off in effort and/or form and I don’t think it is.

I don’t think he tries any less hard or has any less noble intentions, I honestly just think he’s a bit crap.

He is taken out of the team at times though? He’s started 36 league games of the 52 since the start of last season. And what exactly are we dependent on him for? He’s 21 not 17, there’s absolutely nothing out of the ordinary about what we’re asking of him.

When we were allegedly offered £50-60m for him in the summer I think most fans would have accepted that.
Now it appears Frank is allegedly having doubts about him given his recent form.
So why didn't the club accept the offers in the summer?

Probably because there never was any legitimate £50-60m offer made.

(If I had a dollar for everytime somebody quoted an unsubstantiated figure with regards to the rumoured Gordon transfer, I'd have...... loadsssss of dollars).
