Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Thoughts with @Barnfred 55 . We both know there is no rule book on this stuff, well, we all do.

Personally, there is no way I could have reconnected to the world after Nikki left me like Fred has, so I have admired, and not afraid to say, kinda envied his fortitude.

But one thing we (all?) share is the support, compassion, and humour that largely strangers can give some succor to via this mad place.

Take care fella. And you will smile at the memories. Xx

Just goes to show there’s no right and wrong way to handle this stuff, only what feels right to you.

Good afternoon all. This happened today.
First a bit of background. When I do overtime It is pretty much, get out of bed, log on. No niceties like getting dressed or doing anything with the hair. This morning no different. We've invited our neighbour, who has been through a tough time recently and who is moving away on Monday, over tonight for a farewell drink.
This morning I'm working away, in my pjs and fluffy dressing gown when I hear a knock on the door. Get downstairs just in time to see neighbour walking away. Shout after her, she didn't hear. Risk assess the situation and decide it will be OK to travel two doors down still in pjs and dressing gown. It is also raining. So knocked at her door, apologised for the pjs. "Oh come in. Don't worry" Went inside to be confronted by a random bloke with some very fetching piercings and tattoos. "This is Dan. He's helping me pack" Totally mortified. "errrm, hi Dan. I don't usually go out in public in my pjs" Dan smiles, a smile that says "yeah right" and then asks did we have a hammer and a screwdriver he could borrow. So, then I had to go home, get said hammer and screwdriver and return to my neighbour's still in my pjs.
The moral of the story being my Mum was right - you need to dress properly at all times to cover occasions such as this.
I'm going shopping later. I am dressed and I have applied make up!

An update on the buckwheat that grew at the back of our place . Firstly we ambushed the farmer and asked him some questions,he told us that it had grown twice as high as before and that the yeild was 1tonne / hectare and the most he had ever harvested before was 600 kilos ,he put that down to the weather of course but pointed out that it normally grows so well in the south of Europe .We felt that the field still looks nice so took the photo.1664029128686.webp

It's 12 months today since my Cal left me. The time has passed so quickly.

Of course I miss her terribly but I've moved on so much from the utter desolation of 12 months ago. A lot of that is down to the friendship and support I've had from you guys and of course Karl for setting up this little haven.

I just want to take this opportunity to say thanks guys.
On that same note, it really is quite a privilege to share all your journeys on here. Quite a diverse bunch but common ground always found.

I agree but I'm also a scruffy b*gg*r left to my own devices! I do get dressed for the normal working week so there are some standards. My daughter, aged 25, has been home working for as long as I have and still puts her face on every day for work. My Mum will never be dead while my daughter is alive - very many common traits.

About 2 months ago said grandmother (almost 93), fell down while bringing in some groceries (still driving herself to the store...can't tell her any different, ffs) and broke her hip...luckily someone saw her fall. After getting her bearings after surgery etc, my mom asked her is she wanted anything from home...makeup and curler!! ?‍♂️

She's in decent shape for her age but rarely, if ever, drank and never smoked. Exercise was a foreign word to her though, apart from yard work. Raised three daughters on her own; my grandfather (who I'm named after) passed away at 35 from Hodgkins lymphoma; they think from Agent Orange in the Korean War. I'm going over to my aunts tonight to see them as she' staying there right now (we're doubting her days of independence will come again). She has their old wedding picture up somewhere, I'll see if I can grab a shot.

That’s the makings of a novel right there.

Would love to see the photo if you get a chance.

Mate. I miss her every second of every day. As I'm sure you do with Nikki. I just try and make the most of what I have left.
Edit. As I know 100% you do to
